I recently acquired a Toshiba DVD player and am having problems playing copied DVDs made with Shrink. It will play copies made with 321 software and clonedvd but copies made with shrink are not recognized. I have tried 3 different burners and use TY, Verbatim, and Ritek media. I have tried burning with Decrypter, Nero and Roxio. All DVDs play OK on 6 other players. The majority of my DVDs were made using shrink. Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas about this compatibility issue? Thanks.
Thanks for your reply. Shrink has produced excellent results for me with all dvd players except the Toshiba. I have tried the .iso file and also the video files method. Burn speeds at 2X and 4X. Tried a Benq, Liteon and BTW burner with the same results. I get a good burn that plays fine on all other players. No errors reported so it must be a problem with just the Toshiba. When copying with 321 software or CloneDVD the movies play fine on the Toshiba, however most of my movies were ripped with Shrink so they are not recognized by the Toshiba????
The only problems I have had with my two Toshiba players is that they only accept -R media, otherwise if you use +R you have to booktype. But since you say you have no problems with 321 and CloneDVD I am not sure if this is the problem.
I use dvd+r blanks and all three burners have the booktype set to dvd-rom so I am sure this is not the problem. I can use CloneDVD for all my future copies but this still leaves all my past movies unusable in the Toshiba.
jpbsarris,
I also have a toshiba. I got it about two years ago. So far the only problem I had was it's ability to read a lightly scratched disk. My Sony's could read it fine. I also have a Marantz bought 5 to 6 years ago which is completly useless. If I might be so forward as to suggest returning this unit for a differnt brand. I wish I hadn't spent the money on the Marantz.
