I purchased a 3-pack of DVD-9 to copy a DVD using DVD Shrink and it will only play in my DVD burner and not my stand alone or DVD-Rom drive on my computer. Can someone tell me what happened? I had the book set to DVD-ROM. It happened twice, Once with DVD Shrink & once with DVD Decrypter. The size is 8.2GB and I could not compress it enough with Shrink to fit on a DVD-5, so I had to use DVD-9's.
It plays fine in my DVD burner drive but no where else.

Make sure your burner firmware is up to date. If you are using a dual layer disk you do not need to use DVD Shrink. You use DVD Decrypter in iso read and then write mode. Decrypter handles the layer change fine. What megamovie are you trying to burn that it won't fit on a single layer? You always have the option of running the file through Shrink twice to get it to fit.

Copying the HIM Concert DVD (8.2GB) PAL, region 2 DVD for a friend that had ordered it from Europe and it won't play in any stand alone DVD player in the US, so therefore I am trying to region free it and DVD Shrink can't compress it enough, so I am trying to DVD-9 burn it.

I have tried to double-compress it but it gave error during the first attempt when analizing/encoding. What should I do? I have ruined 2 DVD-9 DVD+R's costing me $13.00 so far.

For dual layer use Arniebears method above. Very easy.
However you may have another problem - removing the region code will make the DVD region free but a lot of US players do not play PAL. You will need to make sure your player supports the PAL format.
If not you will need to convert it first.
Here's some threads for help:

All this time I've been posting and no one could tell me it was because of the PAL format that was preventing me from watching it on a stand alone DVD player? Now I have to go through the trouble of converting it from PAL to NTSC? Sounds like a lot of trouble. I managed to get it region free but not playable. Wasted two DL DVD-9 DVD+R. How much of a problem will it be to convert to PAL?

Look through the 2 links I provided above for software you will need. You may already have it. I don't remember it being that difficult - but it's been awhile.
As for not knowing sooner - it wasn't until you said it was a region 2 and you were trying to play it on a US player - that explained some of the problem. Most people will assume you are backing up a DVD from your region.

if you want to get that concert onto a DVD5 disc, use reauthor mode in Shrink and only do 1 of the angles. That's the reason you can't compress it enough. If you double compress with Shrink you will puke from the horrible output. If you just get 1 of the angles you probably won't even have to compress.
