yeh i think the ps3 is gonna be compatable with most formats of video, aledgedly the ps3 will be using a CPU called CELL witch is a mega 8 core chip. Also to top it for video graphics there usin 2 nVidia 6800gt gpu`s ins SLi mode for extreme graphics. (GONNA PISSS ALL OVER XBOX 360 ;) )

haha as a side note, only 7 of the 8 cells are going to be used. They just rounded to 8 because it seems more uniform, but it won't be used. I read it a while ago, sorry I don't have a link to it. But yea, it's going to smack 360 around. no pun intended.

1. The ability to play video formats is not dtermined by the processor. It is determined by the OS and/or optical drive.
2. The PS3 will use a single GPU. It is called the RSX and is made by nVidia. The 6800 is outdated and will definitely not be found in any nex-gen system. The RSX is custom made and is based, but much more powerful/capable than the new 7800 GTX. The new GPU has a 1.8TFLOP rating which eludes to the possibility of a daughterboard, no SLI configuration has ever been noted, plus is slightly overrated for a nex-gen system. If you notice the SLI configuration reduce each PCIx16 GPU to 8x and is not the same as having two full function GPUs at 16x, but yes, is better and much smoother.
3. To reduce production cost the manufacturing tolerences were lowered, allowing 7 SPEs minimun with a goal of 8 functional. Chips that come off with 8 functional SPEs go to use for IBM workstations (in general, but they can be used, but the programming coming into the PS3 will still only utiilize 7), and those with 6 can be used for home configurations in the future. Kutaragi's goal is to provide homes in the future with multi-cell desktops, at an affordable rate because the cells will only have to come out of the process with 6.

Anecdotal, by my definition, it's the way too many people here think. It's also all the evidence you have.
Xbox 360 GT: NEGATIVE 273K
My advice: Wait for PS3.

During the Sony conference at E3, nVidia presented the RSX as if having two 6800 GT Ultras working for you. A picture was shown stacking them next to each other. This was to illustrate the RSX's power. The nVidia spokesman did not specify if it was the power of two or if it was the power of two in SLI config, the first would be better. The RSX is a single GPU, not two, it was just an illustration. Just go look at the PS3 specs somewhere...

ok u know a lot but just 1 more thing to put my mind to rest ?
RSX is a 300 million transistor GPU RIGHT ??
& the new xbox 360`s ATI GPU is 500 million transistor GPU ?
is that right, if so does that mean xbox will be the dominate the next gen consoles ?
Also the RSX just looks like a G70, but just a different name ?
LOL sorry for all the questions but ive heard/seen so many roomers i dont know who to believe, & u seem like the right guy to ask, cheers

Nope, wrong wrong wrong. 300 Million is a lame outsider estimate nased on gateways and all this other crap for making a very unreasonable estimate. nVidia has not released that iformation yet. What we can see is 550MHz and 1.8TFLOPS. This leaves us to believe there is a daughterboard carrying the pipelines and will up the trans count and much more of the actual RSX. It is quite a mystery, but the claimed specs leave it looking much better than ATI.
P.S. If daughter board, then 500+ Million too, we just don't know. :)

Also for your g70 q.
nVidia has stated that the RSX is fully made and custom for the PS3 alone.
