Hmm. no edit function?
Anyways, my question is. Do I need to format my memory stick after the 1.5 downgrade is complete before I start the 3.40 installer?

Awesome, thanks for the most exceptional PSP guide EVER! I was sweating it out worried I'd brick but these step by step instructions DELIVER. This PSP and 2GB Mem Stick is looking to be the best $169 and $49 I've spent on gaming in a LONG time.

Yep, thanks and anyway i just want to say that i do that hard reset too after memory stick format after everything? btw while doing the whole process where should i have a UMD inserted/ and where not ? btw to run a iso do i have to keep loading something each time i open psp ?

no you can take of the UMD and no u dont have to load isos every time the psp is turned on!

Cool ok thanks! so i just follow guide once on 1.5 go to 3.40 OE and then make ISO Folder in Game folder in MS then just place iso there and then go to game then umd and play ? :P

alright im a noob with the psp and at hacking stuff but these instructions seem alot easier than everything else ive seen, the only thing i dont understand is what do you mean "format memory card" do i press the reset to default button on the psp or do i have to do some fancy stuff on my pc? thanx, with this guide i think i might actulaly get my 2.71 down to 1.5

Alright, what you do is format your memory card from the PSP. And then reset it it to default. After it's formatted and reset to default, hook the USB up and then run the program from Windows and it will copy everything you need to the memory card. Follow instructions from there.

if one would want to upgrade back to a later fw to play newer PSP umds is it okay to simply upgrade back to 2.71 or must something special be done?

hey can any 1 help me
i have some ISO game files & i em using UMD Emulater to ru that ISO file but whe ever i open its says This Game cannot be sarted the data is corrupted i eevn Put my UMD & checkedbut of no use
mine System software version is 3.40
do i have to covert that to 1.50 if yes then plz do let me know how plzzzzz

I just wanted to say thanks to all you guys
I don't know anything about this stuff, but I bought a new TA-082 PSP with 2.71 (I didn't even know what that was until I read it here) for my lil kid last night at wallyword and read this thread before I went to bed.
I got up this morning, downloaded the files and successfully downgraded to 1.5 and loaded 3.40oe-A all before I finished my morning coffee
You guys kick all kinds of butt

Hi all.Sorry but yet another noob here.Just bought my son a psp which is a TA082 2.71 and looking to downgrade to 1.5 then up to 3.40. However, no memory card came with the psp so I've ordered a 4gig one. Can you confirm if I will be able to do the downgrade to 1.5 with this card or not?I think that I won't but will any other memory card work in the psp?Good work by the way producing these guides!

I used a 2GIG Lexar card, worked fine. I don't think they card size will matter.

I do have one question
when I go into recovery mode, the screen is black, it's not locked up, it's just not visible
if I push the power button the information on the screen is visible for a second then disappears again
this also happened during the install the 3.40 0E-A
I thought I had bricked it, but when the install finished it was fine
any idea what this it?

This program is quite outdated and will corrupt your keys, meaning you cannot go back to the official Sony firmware because Sony checks for corrupt keys on firmware 3.30 and higher. Check Wikipedia for more info.
In order to fix your PSP you'll need to jump through some hoops. Run KeyCleaner to fix most of the keys and then follow this guide to fix the last patched key. Good luck.

The latest custom firmware is 3.40 OE, so it will run games which require up to 3.40 firmware.
You can also run emulators. Click here for more info.

Still waiting for my memory card to arrive in the post to downgrade then upgrade to 3.40 but still being a noob can anyone answer these few questions, please?I've managed to get some iso games named 'psy-sre' and 'ffn-spac', can I play these straight from the psp menu or would I need some other software to load these?Also, would the way they are named psy and ffn make any difference to how to play them? On another game there is a folder containing - document(a 3.9mb video), EBOOT.PBP (a 463mb file) and keys (a 1kb iso file), can someone explain how to play this sort of game on 3.40, please, also another game folder has 3 further folders - dh, iso and psp. In the iso folder is a .cso file(107mb), is this the game as the other folders contain folders named game, system and photo that have other folders inside again, would I only need the .cso file on the memory stick?Sorry to ask sooooo many questions, all this is new to me, if there are some sort of guides to read please feel free to tell me to read them!Thanx in advance for your time and help!
