Dvd decrypter with AnyDVD running in the background. I've been experimenting a little with DVDFab Decrypter and the latest vs has been able to decrypt and break css encryptions on everything to date by itsself. It may be the ripper of the future.

AnyDVD or DVD Decrypter still my favorites. Have not had a problem with either of them.

OK fellas I hate to admit but DVDFab Decrypter is probably a little better now, and only because it is being updated regulary. I have performed numerous tests with this proggy and I have to say it cuts through the toughest DVD's with ease and no need for AnyDVD. So you can still get a great ripper for free that works well. Now it doesnt burn to DVD or let you just pick certain files or even rip in ISO, but it does rip the whole movie to your hard drive in file and pretty darn quick too... :-) If you want to try out this proggy check out the software link in my sig

Cheers

BB........ you said that DVDFab Decrypter is good for being updated? where? DVDIdle.com/" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/ doesn't even have it listed anymore! it just has a 2 day trial for DVDFab Express...... no Decrypter! I thought they were going to keep it updated? or maybe where I first downloaded it has moved to a different website? what's the story on this?

never mind BB....... I found it under it's free stuff!!!
DVDIdle.com/free.htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/free.htm

I'm going to compare DVDDecrypter with DVDFab Decryter.......compare the files that are ripped from one DVD by both programs then see if it matches exactly to the files on the disk and how long it takes!

OK..... just did a comparison....... DVDDecrypter did an exact copy of the disk (Space Cowboys) 20 files copied, all the same size! Where DVDFab Decrypter copied that files and changed the sizes!

here is the 20 original files from the DVD Space Cowboys

here is the ripped 20 files that DVDDecrypter did!

here is the files ripped by DVDFab Decrypter! notice that it is different than the original files on the DVD and also different from the files ripped by DVDDecrypter!

now is there a difference since the file size and the # of files ripped with DVDFab Decrypter......... I don't know if it's harmfull or not.........both rippers files work! so can you tell me why DVDFab have different file sizes?? and less files ripped from the original disk than DVDDecrypter?

@elizerroj

This is the problem I encountered when I originally tried out the program. I uninstalled it because I could not get the files to work with anything. I see from your post this problem has still not been fixed.

Ihoe,

Now I am not sure, but here is what I was told by the creator of DVDFab Express. He said that DVDFab Express removes all the blank areas from the begining of movies that had that sort of problem and it also removes every trace of encryption where DVD Decrypter just actually masked the Decryption and thats why the difference in file sizes.. Now I am not 100% sure about that, but I do know that it really doesn't matter because DVDFab seems to have the whole movie and extras in tact when viewing...

Hope that helps a little :-)

you're right, because...... when I played both decrypted movies from DvdDecrypter and DVDFab Decrypter..... they both played just fine! soooooo now I'm confused..... I haven't come across any DVD that DVDD wasn't able to rip! until I do I will stick with that one! But, I must say that DVDFab is updated and takes the encryptions away. hmmmmmmmm tough choice!

and once again .... THANK YOU BBMAYO..... you are some source of info!

Yeah I still use DVD Decrypt also, but it is nice to know there is another Decrypter out there that works. I still like DVDD because I can pick and chose which files I want to rip off of the DVD :-) I did run into a DVD acouple of days ago DVDD wouldn't decrypt "Blast" but DVDFD did it just fine.. :-)

Cheers m8

Thought I would see what DVD Fab Decrypter would do for me, so I downloaded from AD, setup DVDD and DVDS following bbmayo's excellent guide, put a dvd in the drive, opened DVDFD, set target, pressed start and got the error message...Failed to get DVD info. Error 4096.

Interesting, I thought. After three different drives, four different DVDs and two additional clean installs, I've decided to stick with what works for me. I might try again sometime in the furure or might not.

Ihoe,

It wouldn't surprise me at all if this sight was being monitored, but I really don't belive they can do much about it or they would have by now. I don't believe it is against the law to talk about backing up your personally owned DVD's. If it is I'm pretty sure I would be one of the first that they come after, and if that happens I would let you all know about it for sure :-)

Cheers
