usualy nero can handle downloaded games, did it come in a .rar file and when you unrared it you got all of these file?

Or did it come as a folder?

Try created a dvd udf/iso dvd with nero, and just drag all the file in single order into nero.

i am not exactly sure what all of the files are but i do know that they are all part of an ISO image. If you put a ps2 game in your cd drive of your computer then you will get the same files on the ps2 disc.

they're just varying formats the game code is put into for different reasons to create the game. unfortunately, i know no more than that :-(

Im not a 100% sure but this is what i think the formats are

DIR -Directory
IMG -Image file
BIN -Binary
AFS - A search i did indicates that it is compressed audio

If anyone out there knows the exect names, feel free to correct me.

What the actual media is, is irrelevant to whether you have bin, iso, rar etc.

The file formats are just different ways of storing and compressing the disc image.

.iso is a dedicated filetype, openable with i believe Nero and magicISO.

.bin is a similar filetype that i use Isobuster to open
.mdf and .mds are Alcohol 120% files and you need that program to open them
.rar will open with the common WinRAR archiver program

As for the files within the archive, don't worry about them, just burn them!

i have a backup rar that sounds much like yours. It has files like:
ioprp300.img
slpm__657.68
system.cnf
and a system redial too.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/214826

From what i understand, these are the files you get when you rip a ps2 game, not just create an image of it. As far as burning it...I havn't had a chance to try anything out -_-;;;

This thread looks pretty promising, tell me if it works.

often what you'll find with downloaded images is one large file that contains the burn information and a couple of different shortcut files (probably no more than a handful of KB) that will allow different programs to burn the image to a CD/DVD. That's what i've found, although I can't say i've ever downloaded a PS2 image...

PS2 games usually come in either one RAR, or many RARs, (in parts) or simply just the ISO.

At times, with the ISO, is the MDS file which contains the burning information, it is not compulsory to use or keep the MDS, but it can help.

If you extract the one RAR, or RARs then they should make up an ISO, or the system files.

I know you need to use image burning software (DVD Decrypter, Alcohol, Nero etc.) to burn the ISO to a disc, onto good media and at a slow speed, but I'm guessing that you have to make a dvd udf/iso dvd with Nero in order to burn a PS2 game that came in the game's files, not a disc image.

OK...I've tried burning downloaded ps2 games. They havn't worked.
1. Question: When i download a game, it comes with a bunch of .rar files which i extract and then i get the .iso.
But with the .rar files were also 4 other files: .nfo, .jpg etc.
What files am I supposed to burn? So far i've been burning the .iso file ONLY. And they have not worked. I've burned them with DVD Decrypter on a TDK and a Maxell DVD-R.

Can anyone help me? Should I also burn the other four files?

i downloaded a game which had a lot of rars and when i extracted them, instead of making an iso image it actually made a bin and a cue file.
now the thing is i dont know what to do next.
plus can anyone help me out because i downloaded a ps2 game which is a dvd but the file is small enough to fit into a cd so i want to know if it will work if i write a cd of the dvd file.

there are many factors when downloading so try these.
Only use WinRAR to extract the first file like game.001
then burn the ISO it gives you to a DVD
As far as Bin & Cue files, that usually means it is
a CD based game. If you are 100% sure it is a DVD based
game then burn the CUE file to a DVD and see if it works
And i hope you both have modded PS2 or they will not
play anyway.

ok so i have a cue and a bin file which means that its a cd based game. but now i woeld like to know the process of copying it because i read from another thread that just putting the bin and cue into the cd wont play. so i was thinking that if i use isobuster and extract the data and then write that data would that play.
i really need help. thanks for your reply.

Nah

You need image burning software, like - Alcohol 120% and then you can load the CUE file which automatically leads to the bin insert a cd-r and burn at about 4/8x onto decent CD media.

Right, check the size, an ISO is simply a disc image. Wether it is DVD or CD, the size will show.

I downloaded a ps2 game recetnly, and I extracted the files using WinRAR. I extracted the 005 file? I don't think it matters which number I extracted. Anyhow, what happened was that a single .ISO file was extraced. My WinRAR could extract that .ISO file also to a whole bunch of files such as data, streets, sound with all different file types which I'm guessing must be in the game. Anyhow I was wondering, should I simply burn the .ISO file to dvd, or burn all the files which WinRAR opened?

Regards, B.

That's very misleading.

Although I'm tired of saying this, I'll give you the full detail:

If you have a cd burning program that will recognise a .iso file and burn the data it contains automatically, such as Nero, then use that feature.

If you are restricted to a basic burning program such as the windows xp writing wizard, then you will need to extract the files and burn them individually.
