hehe yes.

If you have Nero, or another program, if you go to 'burn previously saved project' or something to that effect, it should let you choose a .iso file (it may support other extensions as well, these might be .bin, .tar and .cue, possibly even .mds)

Be sure that you use the program to burn the contents of that .iso file (i.e. select it via this method) and don't 'make data cd' and plonk the .iso file in there.

That was what I was trying to say earlier, and got told off for.

Never mind.

ANY queries about what I said, ask...
It seems some people find me ambiguous.

have the disk it says that its a dvd rom disk so is that what Im gonna have to burn on? and so say i have 5 games on dvd rom 5 games on dvd+ i would have 2 have 5dvd rom disks and 5dvd+ to burn those 10 games
DVD-ROM are for DVD DISKS,depending on your ps2 version, san andreas is best burnt on a DVD+R type disk,if its v4 or below, then you need DVD-R

depending on whether you have FAT32,you should always select the mds file, adn burn this game at the slowest speed possible

you have one of the latest modchips,so the type of disk you use has nothing to do with it,this all depends on what version your ps2 is

san andreas is a bitch to copy, and is best burnt on a DVD+R type disk
as it constantly reads off the disk

i tried burning at the slowest speed but it didn't seem like there was any difference from the max speed anything i can do to slow it down besides changing the write speed at the right of dvd decyrptor. i dont think that made a difference.

then you may have to try different disk's
or try burning another game,to see if your chip is actually working
p.s always burn the MDS file, its safer

I would perhaps try burning a different game, but of course the only way to check it is working is to have a successful write to put in.

Assuming that those version numbers are late versions of the hardware, there shouldn't be much of a problem with reading the disc. TO check the disc has been written properly, bung it into the PC and see what files appear.

How to change the write speed is obviously program dependent, you'll have to look at the program manual, but you may need discs that state they support lower speeds than just the maximum they support, or any writes below the figure on the packet may be defective.

there is a problem im having my game has came in a winrar file but each rar is in parts 1 through to 219 containing around 2.5gb ALSO...

if i extract just 1 of the rar files i only get a .PAK file containin around 3gb ive tried burning the contents of the rar file onto disc (the .pak, system file) etc but when i boot it up i get the "red screen" unable to load my game

what do i have to copy this onto a PLAYABLE disc for my ps2.... if so (in steps) to make it easier....?

What you'll need to do (assuming you have WinRAR, if not then go to www.rarlab.com) is as follows:

Right click on the FIRST part of the set of rars.
then click 'extract files' and choose a convienient folder, separate from everything else.

Once this lot has extracted (itll take a while)
You'll be left with one of two options.

1. You'll have one large 3GB ish file, probably a .iso or .mdf OR
2. You'll have a folder full of files and possibly subfolders containing all sorts of data files.

If you have 1, then open your CD burning program, go to burn saved project (or load from iso, something like that) and then choose the .iso or whatever you extracted from the archives. It will probably be best to burn DVD+Rs, but at a SLOW speed. It might also be wise to check you have a recent PS2 (the model number would be handy) and whether the Swap Magic device supports +R discs (it should do)

Once that's ok, go ahead with the burn process.

If you have 2, then go to 'make data CD', and select all the files in the folder that you made by extracting the archives.
This route is less likely, but not impossible.
This you should burn in the normal way, but at a slow speed.

Right, you should only extract the first part, and that .pak file does sound promising. Bear with me a monent...

OK, I would try downloading Stuffit before burning that file, just in case it is a compressed archive made with that program. It would seem unlikely but I'm used to seeing .pak files only as the data part of PC games. If that's the only file then that seems a little odd.

Try stuffit, and if it can't open it, well try and burn it i suppose.

Any suggestions anyone?

the PAK file should be about 3.5 gb,but there should be also be another 15 or so files to go with it

i gaurantee you,you have opened the iso image as WinRAR is capable of doing this, and this is a common mistake

try this

open winrar
select "file",then "open archive",then select one of the rar files
this should show you an iso,
if it does just drag and drop the iso image into a new folder

if this doesnt work then you may be screwed

this is impossible without using cd/dvd gen

buring as i data disk with not work 100%,i can guarantee that

you cannot use nero(udf/iso) for this rebuild as it contains a single file over 2 gb
so you need to go down the cd/dvd gen route, and for this you need the correct order of the files,of which you dont have
then use iml2iso to create the iso image,or you can use dos command

my advice is to play around with WinRAR and find the iso,or download the "confusion" release

I'll leave that in the hands of hursty, he seems to know what he's talking about...

I don't understand what you mean about a file bigger than 2GB, though, is that the maximum Nero will support?

I can only assume that that's because of the format of the disc, since FAT32 will only support up to 4 i think, is that right?

when you use Nero to rebuild an iso,you select Nero burning rom(usf/iso) option, then drag and drop all the extracted files in there
but when you add all the files in singular,it wont accept a single file over 2 gb,the overall size can be well over 2 gb,but if one of the files is 2 gb or more,it wont work
you need to use cd/dvd gen instead(which is more time consuming)

i have been reading these 3 pages trying to sort out my problem for myself but I am only succeeding in getting myself confused, so i would really appreciate any help.

My problem is that i have downloaded a ps2 game using BitTorrent and I got 40 files that my computer didnt recognise. I looked at the files properties and the file types were 001 file, 002 file 003file ect. There was also 1 .nfo file and 1 .sfv file.

As they were not RAR files i had to extract them MANUALLY using WinRAR. I got lots of file foders and one .iso

I burnt the .iso to a DVD+R using Nero. (im not 100% sure if i have the newest version of Nero but i think i do i have also downloaded all the latest upgrades for it) However im not sure if Nero recognised the file, but i burnt it anyway. P.S i burnt at 1x speed.

Then i came to try it in my PS2. I dont have a modchip, but i do have 'SWAP MAGIC dvd version 2.0 EUR build'
I did the slide trick following the instructions explicitly but i just got a pink out-line around the screen then it froze. I tried this many times and the same thing kept happening.

P.S i live in the UK and bought the ps2 in the UK (and i did check i got the correct SWAP MAGIC disk for my machine) I obviously can play PAL games but i can play in NTSC mode also (using the scart lead i have) to boost picture quality. I know the game i downloaded is from the USA but i didnt think that would be a problem as 'Swap Magic' is desighned for backups and imports.

So thats my story. If anyone could lend a hand or find fault in my method i would much appreciate it. In advance thanks for taking the time to read this i hope you can help me out.

Oh by the way i forgot to mention i got a message from Nero before the burn telling me that what i wanted to write was larger than 2GB and that the way it was going to burn it would only be readable by windows 2000, ME, or XP.
