I bought this dvd off of ebay weeks ago, and the buyer said that it was region free. Yet it wasnt its not NTSC complaint but PAL. I was reading some of the information on here, and I thought i say something that said that DVD Shrink could convert it for me, is that true? If so, how? I thought that it had to be the actual VOB file on the hard drive and not from the actual disk? Also, if DVD Shrink can't do it, I'm open to suggestions.
If you have Nero Ultra Edition, you can use Nerovision Express to do the conversion. I don't use Nero, but I do know it can do it.....
You could download the 30 day trial if you don't have the Nero Ultra Edition.
how does Nero convert it? does it rip from the disc first? I'm not quite understanding how it could, and if so where do i go on Nero do it. I do have the new version of Nero.
Yes you can convert a PAL video to NTSC with NeroVision Express.
First you will have to get the movie onto your hard drive. Use a ripper like DVD Decrypter in the file mode first. Re-author with Shrink, keep just the main movie and a single audio stream.
Once you get the processed movie files on your hard drive, open NeroVision Express and select Make DVD-Video. When the "What would you like to do?" menu appears, select "Add Video Files...".
Add the vobs in the correct order and then select "Next".
You can then proceed to use NVE to add chapters and a menu if you like.
Once that is done and you finish previewing the movie, the next screen is the "Burn Options" screen. At the bottom, select "More" and then select "Video Options". Under the General tab of the Video Options menu you can select the Video mode you want the movie in. Select NTSC and then select OK. The last step is to set up your burn destination and complete the burn.
If you have not used NVE before I highly recommend you start with just one small .VOB file. It will give you an idea of how it works and how long it takes. I also recommend that you perform as much processing as possible before using NVE. Get your movie in it's final form, compressed and the extras removed first.
There are other ways to do this that may be better and faster but if you have Nero already, why not give it a try?
