I have successfully used DVD Shrink to make backup of my DVDs. There is one particular DVD that I bought today, which will not shrink. The following is what I usually do (successfully), but doesnot work for this one DVD:
1. Use Decryptor and get the files loaded from DVD to Harddrive
2. Use DVD Shrink as follows:
- Click on Open Files, choose the folder (or Video_ts under that folder)
- Choose automatic video compression setting
- click backup.
In this DVD, the top bar remains a little bit red (even with auto compression), and when I click backup I get warning 'too big'.
With Custom compression, I cannot reduce the ratio.
Are there some DVD, that cannot be compressed?
Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to do something else?
Help would be appreciated.

Well, even Shrink will only go so far in shrinking a Video. I've heard of some instances where the file has to be transcoded to the hard drive and transcoded a second time to get fitted to a DVD5. Are there any extras that can be edited out to save space? What was the movie, and how large was it in GB? 7 to 8GB is a good sized movie and normally Shrink has no problem. Music DVDs are sometimes problematic due to the audio content not being able to be shrunk. Also, did you use the deep analysis and "Quality settings" for processing the source files? Those "Quality Settings" are the hallmark of the last Shrink version and were intended to help Shrink work better at higher compression levels than the previous version. They have to be selected though or the app works as it did prior to the addition of the new settings. That said, you might want to give Rebuilder a try. It works better at high compression. Also, the HC encoder does a good job and is free. However, CCE is better.
