It seems that anytime i try to backup a small movie with no compression is when i have the most problems. My strong hypothesis is that the errors result because the minimum burn speed shrink allows me to choose is 6x. How do I choose to burn at 1.5x or 2x when i am burning a no compression movie? Is this possible? i have seen others ask similar questions but i have not yet see a straight answer. how do you reuce the burn speed when shrink doesn't seem to let you?

On the options tab u should be able to check burn settings and then drop down to the lowest setting. I have personally never seen an option for a 6x burn. I have seen 2x, 2.4, 4, 8, 12, etc. If your burner will not burn that low then u might not be able to burn that slowly.

Make sure you have a blank disk loaded otherwise Nero or dvdd doesn't know the speed rating of the blank media. BTW shrink can't burn it doesn't have a burning engine incorperated into the program.

Never seen Shrink burn before...
If you use DVD Decrypter, there is a burn setting when you choose the 'write' option under Mode. Your blank media has to be inserted in your drive though so it can determine your media's burn settings.

I only burn at 6X - DVD Decrypter every time.

What utility are you useing to burn with?
Do you have a blank disc loaded when trying to select burn speed?

i am burning with Nero and i have a verbatim 8x disc loaded when i select the speed. i tried to choose the speed without a blank disc in and i was able to choose 1.0, 2.0 or 2.4x, but then when I put the disc in it automatically adjusts itself to 6x.

I just realized you have 2 posts going about the same thing. Read the rules. No multi-posting. I won't be responding to the other thread anymore. Try setting up shrink to make an ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter. If that doesn't work select a folder on your hdd as the target and the burn the folder useing Nero.

Try updating the firmware for your dvd burner. my dvd burner used to be picky about dvd brands and i could'nt burn less than 4x, but after updating the firmware it'll burn anything i throw at it
