hi, I am new here.

I am having a problem, My Toshiba SD-R5272 burner has failed to burn all 6 memorex DVD+R(8x) disc I have tryed so far....I've burned many sony dvd+r's before and other makers also.
and its not the data I am burning, I have tryed making dvd copys, data disc, dvdr...ALL say sucessful burn
I tryed to burn with nero, dvdclone and dvd lab..but when I try to play em on the PC, it reads it as a blank disc, standalone dvd player also wont play the dvdr's....whats the deal with memorex and toshiba ?
also updated aspi to 4.60

can I do something so I can use the rest of my 24 disc ?

waist of 18$ I payed for a 30 bundel.

Unfortunately you are probably better off to waste them now then waste time with them. Even if you got a decent burn it may not play when you're ready. Some people have gotten lucky and got a decent batch but I think the majority have not.

Memorex is one of the worst discs on the market to day, you are better of buying TY or Verbs as this will save you money and headaches in the long run, I would just move on and be glad you found out early

Verb"s are number 1

You said that you had success with Sony ... Stick with a winner ... Sony, Maxell or Verbatim will keep you happy ... This week, Office Depot has Maxell discs $17.99 for 50 ...

If you have a gun, use the Memorex discs for target practice ... At least they'll be of some use that way ...

You seem partial to the plus format, which is my cup of tea!

Media to stay away from in the plus format: TDK,Memorex, and the majority of the store brand name media-unless you have someone like catfreak telling you where the good ones are like the office depot +8x,made by ritek $28 for a spindle of 100!.That was a sweet deal.

Very good Plus format media:
Fuji
Maxell-the +8x is very good
Sony 1x-8x- These will fly at 16x
Verbatim Data Life Plus +8x
Taiyo yuden-4x or 8x

Look on packages for Made in Japan for the better manufactures because Taiyo yuden makes media for fuji and sony.

We can find you better deals than 30 discs for $18.00
Staples have the fuji +8x for spindle of 30 for a hair under $10. The ones I got were made by taiyo yuden.

HP a1118x-b/athlon 64-3300+/BenQ 1650 BCDC/LG 8163B/Modded Wii/Epson-R300 and Ty Watershields!!!

Sell them to someone who will actually use Memorex, although I wouldn't expect a huge market...

Then get some Yuden's.

Oh how we enjoy seeing memosux getting the torture and ridicule they deserve. Even a bigger joy would be hearing that the media division of memorex was bankrupt. Memorex= pure crap and should have lawsuites backed up for selling such garbage. Everytime I see memorex and media in the same sentence it hits a nerve.

This list is taken from the CDFreaks website ...

Currently I prefer discs from the following manfacturer:

Taiyo Yuden

MCC

Ritek

Ricoh

Other

CMC

Maxell

Fuji

Optodisc

Sony

Prodisc

Daxon

Philips

Princo

It's hard to believe that CMC is even on the list, let along being #6!!!

seems to be a common theme over at cdfreaks, there are loads of people who love CMC, and (god forbid) even recommend them as great media.

bloody wierd
