I have many mpg's that I need to convert the files first and then use DVD Shrink To fit more episodes on dvd. Can anyone point me to a proper converter and show me how to do it. Sorry for the trouble....

You can try DivXtoDVD freeware:
DivXtoDVD-Converter/3000-7970_4-10376028.html?tag=lst-0-1" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.download.com/VSO-DivXtoDVD-Converter/3000-7970_4-10376...

You can select several mpg files and it will create a VIDEO_TS folder with each mpg as a separate title. It's pretty stingy on bitrate so you should be able to fit quite a few mpgs on a single DVD before even using
DVD Shrink.

Only thing on the freeware version is the aspect ratio is not adjustable
so if you have a video with a custom aspect ratio the output can look squished. But it's the first thing I'd try.

Thanks MilesAhed That Worked Like A Charm. Do you know if the Video Ts folders are editable in TMGEnc after they are compressed. I want to be able to edit them(without commercials) and then shrink them to fit on a DVD9 and then burn them complete with menus and chapters. This program is no longer on television.....so I wanted to save them forever.....thanks for any suggestions......

I don't do much editing so my experience is limited. You might find it easier to edit copies of the source files, then convert to DVD. Take a look at VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod freewares and see if they will do what you want. I suspect that if you cut something out of the video you may have some audio sync issues so you will want to look for tools that can correct audio timing problems. But I'd experiment and post if you run into more problems. Just make sure you keep a set of the original input files stored away and mess around and see what you learn.
