Just finished appx. 1hr ago. Ripped with DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD running in background then used DVD Shrink to compress and burned with Clone DVD 2. Got a great backup copy! Originally tried to compress and burn with CloneDVD 2 but got error reading VOB file 4.3 too large.

AnyDVD is not a ripper - it's a driver that runs in the background that makes the dvd seem to have no copy protection.
You can dl a 21 day free trial from aD.
I used shrink with AnyDVD running in the background.

Read earlier statement carefully. Ripped with DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD running in the background. Stated differently; AnyDVD running in background and ripped with DVD Decrypter then compressed with DVD Shrink and burned with CloneDVD.

This movie has Sony ARccOS protection that Shrink can't handle. Only the newer updated apps can handle this protection. Decrypter still does for now but it's no longer being updated. Shrink hasn't been updated since last summer.

Those that used DVD Shrink and AnyDVD are only giving you two thirds of the story. Neither of these programs will burn. Which burner did they use? As Paul Harvey says....and the rest of the story .....:-)

Currently in process of archiving Kung Fu Hustle myself (as we speak)... using AnyDVD 5.3.2.1 and DVD Shrink 3.2, burn using Roxio Easy DVD creator 6... has been a winning combination for everything I have tried... will let you all know how it goes!

its really easy, at first i couldnt shrink it (dvd shrink) im guessing cause dvd shrink is kinda outdated so then i used dvd decrypter and put it in my hard drive, after that i went back to dvd shrink and instead of going to open disk i went to open files then i found my kung fu hustle and and clicked ok then the files popped up and u know how to do the rest.
also i burned it and it was sucessful im guessing u could do anydvd but i just went ahead did it this way

It's confirmed... burned fine... though the initial scan that DVD Shrink performs froze the first time arounda and I had to forceably quit the app... the second time it worked fine.

Shrink gave me a cyclic redundancy error on the first try. Closed shrink with task manager, rebooted comp, and it worked without a hitch. No visible damage/dirt on disk, maybe just a crappy copy. I seem to remember AnyDVD saying it found 3 instances of bad sector protection or something.

AnyDVD is a driver as mentioned before, it is a decryption tool that makes the encrypted DVDs (CDs as well) appear to be unencrypted. One can read about it and get a download for the 3 week trial at http://www.slysoft.com . It has some other nice features like jumping to the menu or movie and not having to watch the adverts and trailers. AnyDVD is excellent for working with programs whose decryption software is out of date. Shrink is an excellent example.

No need for DVD Decrypter unless you're just wanting to rip files to the hard drive (or if DVDD is your only decrypter or you're using it as a burner). DVD Decrypter does 2 tasks at once, it decrypts, and then writes the files to the hard drive (rips). So, the difference between AnyDVD and DVDD is that one is a driver and the other a ripper, they both decrypt. Support for DVDD has been dropped, but to date I've not heard of any new encryption systems it can't handle. They'll probably have one soon, but AnyDVD is still being supported.

As for doing a backup of Kung Fu Hustle, the key is in getting a clean input source for the transcoder or encoder being used. Then DVDCopy3, RB/CCE, Shrink, CloneDVD2, Recode2, or any number of apps can do the transcode or encode to fit the output to the target media. If the software doesn't include a burner, most of the burner apps can handle the job. CopyToDVD and Nero are a couple of my favorites. The burner part of the free DVD Decrypter does a good job if the file is in ISO format. As mentioned, Sonic's burner in the Roxio suite does a decent job as well. There's a lot of combinations that will work to back up Kung Fu Hustle; as I mentioned, the key is in getting a clean decrypted source to the transcoder or encoder.

If a person is looking for freeware only, then the free DVD43 can be used instead of AnyDVD. They're both driver type decrypters, though DVD43 isn't supported as well as AnyDVD and there's a question as to how well DVD43 works in comparison to AnyDVD. There's still DVD Decrypter, it's not obsolete yet. The only thing out of date with Shrink is the decryption software and that's no problem. With Shrink set to ISO output and DVD Decrypter the choice of burners, the burner is free as well. All freeware with a decent video output. You have to pay to get better.

dvdfab platinum (express mode) will do it alone... that's if ur not using the trial version.... but if u must make sure u use ur own trusted program 4 burn it the second time so it doesn't freeze up or skip the next or the first time u watch it... it gives u the option like dvdshrink does, u can watch it as well as view the quality it'll burn in ur DVD-R... view preview, subtitles, etc...

That is if you already have the files decrypted. For about $60 dollars you get a transcoder and burner. Their decryption software is extra. I've used Fengtao software and find it about average. They don't update their decryption software as fast as Slysoft does with the AnyDVD. As for the video quality, I don't think I'd rate it much better than the free DVD Shrink, if at all.

actually its free.... i'll b banned if u show the link.( as i was told)... but i'll give u a lil hint.... download the free trial version... if u know the main site... no don't start using that yet... there's the real version and free updates to come.. if u use the best cereals( sounds like it but its not) at the dot com... that will get u pass 2 register it to get the real version. if u use to trial version it would skip and freeze when u play it... so be sure to burn it again with ur own trusted software that doesn't act up.. it could be anything since its already burned...

Yep, you're starting to skate on thin ice. A little porn along with crackz is what you're promoting there. This thread is in the Shrink forum, not the "how to find porn on crack sites".

so u found the adware interesting.... easy to get rid of... and no i'm not promoting porn... make sure u have a good firewall so u don't catch a flu... another option would be juss using the trial version but you'll need to burn it again so it doesn't skip or freezes up on u when u try to play it a few times... still saves u the $60 if ur don't wanna skate on thin ice...
