I have had DVD shrink for about six months and have been able to write my DVD at 8x since downloading the software. I have two DVD drives so I read from one, copy to the hard drive as an ISO, and automaticly burn the file using DVD Decrypter. It has worked without any problems till about a week ago. Now, it will not burn any faster then 1.1x! I havent changed anything inside or outside my PC at all. Nothing! It simply just stopped burning at that speed. I am clueless. I have uninstalled both software titles and reloaded both and that did not fix my problem.

Anyonme out there with a suggestion?
Thanks

Check and make sure your DMA is enabled for these drives and it has not gone over to PIO. Here is a guide

Interesting....
Well, everything looked fine in device manager but I went ahead and unistalled both IDE controllers and then reinsalled after re-bot. I then opened my DVD Shrink software and I am know burning at 8x once again. I dont understand what happened, and how it was fixed. It said that they were enabled correctly but some how the un/re-installed worked and managed to re-set the burners. I am affraid that the re-search that will need to be done now to figure out what happened will tkae much longer then it did to fix the problem...LOL!

:)

Thanks so much, you have saved me a lot of time!

Glad to here this worked for you. DMA stands for Direct Memory Access and it is a transfer mode. If you want to read more about it here is a fairly good article. Happy burning :)
