i used to be able to encode dvd's in 20-25 minutes, now it's taking me over an hour, i uninstalled both shrink and decrypter and installed them again, but its still going slow.

Make sure you have enough hard drive space, do a defrag. Do you have deep analysis and quality enhancements checked this will slow down the encoding time. Turn off the video preview. Shutdown any unnecessary programs running in the background encoding is CPU intensive, shudown antivirus software. Here is some more info

Make sure your burner/dvd-rom are in DMA mode and have not reverted to PIO. Here is a guide

To see if you have the deep analysis & quality enhancements checked after you click backup click on the 'quality setting' tab. Both options are listed here. For the preview option go to edit>preferences>preview tab.
