Hi. Not sure if this is the right forum for this question. I apologize if it's not. I've been burning with Shrink/Decrypter and used to with XCopy. I've been reading about DVD-RB and my curiosity is growing and would like to try it. Can anyone please tell me if the Guide here at AD for the DVD-RB is current. If not can you please tell me what other software I need and a step by step instructions. I would really appreciate any help. Thank you.

the guide here at afterdawn is current enough. the only thing it is missing is showing you how to burn to a DVD RW once you have completed the DVD RB.

You need to use a program like Nero to burn the DVD files. Since RB gives you Video files and DVD Decrypter only burns ISO files.

Rebuilder Pro will let you make an ISO. Vurbal has the best guides for RB/CCE that I know of and the links are in his sig.

So will the pro cut down on the steps since I think the guide was written using the basic edition?

No, it just has more options. Once RB/CCE is set up it really doesn't have any more steps than other softwares. The only other steps required with RB/CCE or one of the free bundled in encoders is you have to rip folder to you hdd (which is required usually with shrink and other transcoders anyway unless you have anydvd), make an empty folder on your hdd for the target, and manually burn to dvd after RB/CCE is finished encoding. No biggie. One big advantage, you can set up RB/CCE to batch process as many folders as you like while you are sleeping or at work.

I usually rip with decrypter or shrink to hdd and burn them when I have time. You mean I can rip 5 movies in 5 folders and RB/encoders will process them all automatically if I set it up? I also have AnyDVD, how will this help? Thanks.

Yes or even more.

It won't help with RB/CCE unless dvdd alone can't break encryptions since RB/CCE requires that the folder be ripped to your hdd. AnyDVD will eliminate the need to rip with dvdd for other transcoders that already have the ability to rip/analyze.

You're welcome, you won't be disapointed. Like I said earlier for some good guides, search for any thread that vurbal was in and there are good guides in his sig or use the help tab in rebuilder. Hardest part is getting it set up then you're on your way to the best backups on dvd5's. I recommend upgrading to the pro vs ($25) after you've tried it out to benefit from the added features.
