Dear nettew,
First of all, there's no need to start a new thread for the same problem 'cos that would make people hard to follow. I searched and found that you had only posted once before, so figured the problem should have followed from there:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/221365
Now you mentioned at the above thread that the avis were downloaded. If so, then they could be containing errors (downloaded avis often do), and you need to check and correct them before converting. Try use DivFix or AviFix (both free programs) to do it, but remember to backup first.
If problem still persists, please post again.
Good luck!

Video fixing may sometimes backfire (i.e. do more harm than good). So it's important to backup the video files (e.g. avi) before fixing.

O.K., so your avis do not contain errors, but DivXtoDVD is unable to convert. Now try the followings:
1) Make sure you have all the necesary codecs by downloading and installing K-Lite codec Pack (full or mega version):
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
2) Use e.g. Power Video Converter or X Video Converter to change the codec of the avis (set video to XviD and audio to Mpeg Layer 3)
3) Try to convert with DivXtoDVD again.
Good luck!

After you've installed K-Lite, the codecs will be ready for action, and it's up to the various programs (e.g. media player, burning programs) to make use of them. The good things about K-Lite are that:
1) all the codecs are organized in an orderly manner and would not interfere with one another
2) the codec pack is updated frequently
3) the codec pack also comes with quite a few very useful tools (e.g. Media Player Classic, GSpot, Avifixed)

Try convert some other avis that are error free with Power Video Converter to check. If still can't do it, then maybe you should run a diagnostic test of your pc.

If you have not been able to burn anything at all, then maybe you should start again from the basics: Try burn any movie to harddisk with DVD Decrypter.

Not sure what SMC is, but according to what you described, Decrypter was indeed causing certain conflict with your OS. On the other hand, many people using Windows ME and FAT32 have been saying they have had no problem at all burning and using the programs that we mentioned.
Have you ever succeeded in burning anything, CD, DVD?????

If you were able to convert up to 4%, then it probably wasn't a codec problem. Maybe you can post a log for us?
