I did a quick copy of Training Day DVD and when I burnt the last part of the movie it looked like it was expanded from the original widescreen and it had subtitles. What settings, if any, do you have to have to make the screen size the same as the original and is subpicture the same thing as subtitle? Thanks for the help.

What is the rule of thumb for the two quality options. The AEP and the other one. Should I do both, neither, one? I'm not sure which to do to make the best quality dvd copy. Verbatim and TDK are the best media to use? Any others. If someone could help me with my first question too that would be great. Thanks again.

Could you elaborate on this "expanding from widescreen..." thing your talking about? Not sure I understand what you mean.

And yes, subpicture is the same thing as subtitle.

I do a "Deep Analysis" if I go below %90 percent compression. I use the "AEC" quality control if I go below %70 percent compression.

I generally "Re-author" just the main movie only, and therefore do not require the use of either one.

Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim would be my first 2 picks as the best media to use. People have problems with TDK media, so I would advise staying away from it.

"Re-authoring" the DVD with DVD Shrink, is your best option to use for "Quality" purposes. Go here to learn how to re-author with DVD Shrink: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46607

The only way you can not copy the subtitles is by either not copying them or turning them manually off on the DVD Player.
Since I have never seen a movie expand all I can think of is somehow the movie at that point was originally recorded in full screen. Does the movie expand in the original movie disk? If yes then that is how they wanted it . If no then something went wrong w/ the encoding and you need to re-encode the movie
