Clean it, then try again. If it is a newer movie, you first have to use DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 to remove the copyright protection.

A CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) error is DVD Shrink's and/or DVD Decrypter's way of telling you that it cannot read the disc (DVD). It is caused from the disc being to dirty (fingerprints, smudges, etc.) or being to scratched. If DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter still generates this error message, I suggest returning the original for a different copy.

Before you return it, try using the latest version of DVD Decrypter. The latest Version is Currently: Version 3.5.4.0 Get it here: http://mrbass.org/dvdrip/

Use DVD Decrypter to "rip" the DVD to your hard drive in "File" mode - and from the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "All files" (NOT "movie files").

Then use DVD Shrink to "Open files" (NOT "Open Disk") - and select "VIDEO_TS.IFO" or the actual "VIDEO_TS" folder.

A good tutorial on how to accomplish this is located here: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45238

Thanks i will try doing this but the DVD is brand new and was clean not prints. Is there anything else that could be causing this. I had someone tell me that it could be that on my laptop i have to shut off the power saving setting on my usb hub. Is this correct? Thanks.

What DVD is it? You will probably have to first rip it with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0.

Make sure you have the latest version of DVD Decrypter.

The latest Version is Currently: Version 3.5.4.0

Use DVD Decrypter to "rip" the DVD to your hard drive in "File" mode - and from the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "All files" (NOT "movie files").

Then use DVD Shrink to "Open files" (NOT "Open Disk") - and select "VIDEO_TS.IFO" or the actual "VIDEO_TS" folder.

Download DVD Decrypter version 3.5.4.0 here: http://mrbass.org/dvdrip/

After you rip it like jmet suggested and it still comes up w/ that error code then the DVD is bad pressed and no computer will properly rip or copy it. You will need to return it for an exchange.
When you are ripping and transcoding a DVD that is CPU sensitive and the computer requires all of the resources you can give it. Since you are on a laptop make sure you are at full power, cut of screen saver, disconnect from internet and cut off firewall and antivirus. Son did that movie using DVDDecrypter and Shrink.
Jmet good call

Thank you!

If I am not mistaken, on "Kung Fu Hustle". You first have to rip with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 and open those files that DVD Decrypter made with DVD Shrink.

Make sure when you rip it with DVD Decrypter, you rip in "File" mode and select "All Files" as mentioned above. :)

This is ARccOS?. DVD Decrypter is just telling you that it found it. Just keep going.......

Well what worked for me finally was dl the new DVD Decrypter and then ripping it and burning it with DVD Shrink. I know I tried doing that one time with the old version of Decrypter, so dl the new one must have been the key. I thank everyone for your assistance.

I have had the same error. Several things you need to do . Always check the surface of DVD for dirt, dust, scratches and fingerprints. All of these can give off bad readings. If I see the disc has any of these, I will clean it with alcohol and a soft cotton wash cloth. If you still get a bad read. Try a different Dvd Rom.It can make a difference. All roms are not alike. There are many different DVD media types out there and some Roms will read them where others won't. Next if your still having trouble use DVD Decrypter . Shrink may have encountered a bug that it can't read. DVD Decrypter stays up to date almost week by week for new bugs . When burning never burn the max. You'll usually get a bad burn. Picture will digitize during playback. Always slow it down to 6x or 4x, using Nero. Always use DVD-R never use DVD+R. More DVD players will play a DVD-R ( 90% according to the net). Trying to use a DVD+R in some players will result in Disc errors. Good Luck and happy burning.

Hunterabe, with the ability to set the booktype for DVD+R media to "DVD-ROM", +R media is more compatible than -R.

While the statement that -R media is more compatible used to be very true, it really isn't anymore.

I have used nothing but DVD+R media for the past 2 years with no compatibility problems what so ever.
