I have noticed that when I burn a dvd with dvd shrink and anydvd running in the backround, the final product will only play on the newer of my two dvd players(a brand new philips player. However, when backing up older disks with primitive encryption and i just use shrink alone without anydvd, the dvd will always play on both the newer and older dvd player. Do dvd players have trouble with backups burned with anydvd in backround? is my other dvd player(a year old samsung) not very compatible? I want to be able to watch my dvds on any player. I can only burn new movies with anydvd running. Can anyone help me? I use verbatim and sony media. Neither media brand seems to affect wether or not the disc plays in my older dvd player.
AnyDVD is just a driver that breaks the encryption on the DVD, it runs in the background and does nothing else. It just enable Shrink to rip movies that it could not handle on its own. If you are having difficulties playing these movies on your standalone, there is some other kind of problem going on. Have you tried ripping these movies to your hard drive first and then using Shrink and see if they play?
