Well, its back to school, and this year ičv decided to get a new computer...My brother got a Mac 3 yrs ago and it was ok at first and then got really boring...but my family says Macs are the best...sure...but I really think i should get a Dell...My aunt says I should get an HP (Huge Piece-Of-Junk), and my budget is $3000, but id like to keep it under $2000...
So just tell me which computer brand I should get...A Mac, a Dell, or a HP...
PS: I heard that Macs have very good FireWalls...how about Dell and HP...

hey doggy_bot
Dells Are fantastic. i have one and i have never had any problems with it. it was such a bargain aswell. for £900 (dont't know what it is in $, but will be cheaper in the ststes anyway) i custom built it over the net. its a gaming pc with 256 graphics. 1 gig ram 400 gig hdd and a whole bundle of software, 19 inch screen printer etc. never had one problem with anything and had it like a gear now. hp is ok. my uncle has a hp computer and it is pretty good. but, considering he has similar spec to mine, he paid far too much and its a little sluggish. hope that helped.

The reason Macs are sooo "safe" is because there are barely any viruses and such created for them. If you were choosing between Dell and HP I would go with Dell, customize online. I have an HP laptop and I love it but I don't think they're the best deal in the market. If you're into money-saving you can search for Dell ecoupons online. Often I have seen $750 off a $1500.
Similar to this offer: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?CS=19&kc=11111... http://www.xpbargains.com/dell_coupons/
If you're looking for a performance PC you might want to look at specially customized companies like Velocity Micro, ABS, or Alienware. Dell has the XPS which is comparable to the above mentioned companies.

I always thought Alienware was good but now there are many other alternatives that are equal if not better than Alienware. I would go with Velocity Micro or ABS.

That may not be the best choice. What kind of PC do you want? Business, gaming, performance, media, budget?

yeah I would not go with a Dell if you are going to spend that kind of money. You could make your own computer with all the stuff that you want.

@Doggy_Bot have you eva thought of building a pc yourself. That way you can stick to a budget and still get good quality parts.(backing up philipman) I have done that and I wasn't that hard!
As for best brand of PC I'd have say dell i know a few guys with them and they haven't had any problems, I also think there doing a double your memory for free offer :)

that's right...and you want to stay more towards 2 grand US. hmm...i hate to say it now, but if you won't/can't build your own, i'll have to recommend Dell. for the most part, they are more easily upgradeable than the current HP models.

With that kind of money you can get a super desktop. I went on Velocity Micro's website and configured an AMD X2 3800+, 200 GB, 1 GB RAM, 500 WATT PSU, firewire and USB, 128 MB 6600 GT, 17" Sharp LCD, ASUS A8N SLI mobo, media card reader, DVD-ROM, and Netgear Wireless Adapter for only $2100 US.

I think you've made a good choice Doggy_Bot, might as well buy it if it fits your budget. As for Tigerdirect, nice website but overprices everything, don't forget the shipping costs.
