Ok so I took the cover out (snapping a tiny piece of that damn little clip on the side too)
I followed exactly the instructions but when I slide the card to the right (with the hook facing right) I can't seem to "grab" on to anything, are you just supposed to slide it "straight" right or is there a trick to it?

I don't want to have to force it, afterall I still wanna enjoy my american games!

Please the experts who's done it, help us rookies!
Thanks!

Well, anyway u have to remove the front tray cover, making a "slide Station". The only thing u have to do is slide to the right until the tray opens automatically. U have to practice a little, cuase it's tricky. Then you swap the disk with your backup, close the tray, and then.. it's the trickiest part.. please refer to this thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/230987 once again.. it's updated. Follow the tips of the last Tokijin post. He helped me a lot.
Hope I've helped.

I read that already thanks to you guys.......but i still can't figure it out.

When I slide the card all the way right, it does hook anything and surely nothing opens....

I guess I'll just have to keep trying.

Zawyer lemme know when you figure it out because I still haven't.
I slide the card to the right and it doesn't hook on ANYTHING.

Now for the fun part (and challenging part the first couple of times)
This may sound a little complicated at first, but after you do it 3 or 4
times, it?s supper easy. First things first, you must remove the front of your game drive on your PS2(not a big deal, it can snap on and off).
Now insert your gameshark 2 cd(make sure the gameshark memory
card is in one of the 2 slots, doesn?t matter which one.)
In the gameshark options, choose ?start game?, then ?without?. Your screen should read ?Please insert game disk then press X to continue.?
Now this part can be trickey for beginners, so I will provide pictures
-the main purpose of this starting method is to open up the PS2 and
swap the gameshark disk with your burned game without the PS2
knowing you did it. DO NOT press the eject button on the PS2!!!
-with the PS2 cd tray cover removed, you will be able to look in and see a while tab inside the PS2. With a credit card (or something like it) gently slide the white tab all the way over to the right, if you did it correctly, this should allow you to manually pull open the PS2 cd tray.
5) Next, take the gameshark disk out of the PS2 and put in your burned
game.
Gently push the PS2 cd tray fully back into the PS2 (Don?t press the
eject button).
Now you need to slide that white tab all the way back to the left (its
origional position). To do this you get a strong papper clip(needs to be a strong one) stick it into the PS2 on the right side of the white tab and push the tab back to the left.
If you pushed the tab all the way back to the left and did every thing
else right, you are ready to play your game. Just press X on your PS2 controler and watch as your burned game loads. ( It may load slower than an original game, depending on the cd-r you are using, I use Verbatim cd-r?s and have no problems.)

I have tried to address this topic as thorougly as possible, I know how frustrating it can be to want to play a backup and not be able to because of a minor hold up. PPX you know the steps, just take a deep breath, listen to some music or s/t while you insert the slide card and you will be okay. Read over the steps in my previous FAQ, don't force the slide card in, and you should be okay. I wouldn't reccomend the credit card idea, as the slide card is specifically designed for this process. One thing though you never mentioned what version PS2 you have, only that it is a PAL version. If you are trying to use the slide card on a slimline PS2 (v.12), it won't work. I am by no means a patient person so I sympathize. Take your time and you'll get the hang of it. There is no magic solution, it just takes practice, you can do it. Later.

Thanks for replying, I don't really know which version I have, all I know is I purchased it brand new in Summer 2002 at Best Buy, so no I don't have that tiny skinny one.
I'll keep trying thanks.

Actually PPX I may have left out an important detail. Insert the Slide card into the PS2 "slide station" and push it to the right. The tab I was referring to is more for closing the disc tray. When you are trying to open it you just push it to the right. The arm doesn't actually catch onto anything until it's time to close the disc tray. You don't need to catch the arm onto anything to open it, just to close it. I was reading over my FAQ for Breaker Pro and realized I may have not made that part clear enough. I apologize for the oversight. Try pushing to open, and don't worry about hooking onto the tab until it's time to reseal the disc tray. You'll get it to open.

Dunno PPX maybe you would just be better off getting a flip top lid and eliminating the slide card all together, then you shouldn't have any issues. I got one and am very happy with the results. You can get them from any number of sites for around $20. Zawyer to burn PSX games there are a number of programs which will do the trick. I use Alcohol 120%. Right click on the file you want to burn and open the image burning wizard. Click next. Select your recorder, set the data type to playstation, the write speed low (no higher than 4x), and the write method to DAO/SAO. This method works for me 90% of the time, assuming the game isn't mod protected. You can also use CDRWIN, Nero, CloneCD, Discjuggler, or a host of others. I use Alcohol because it is simple and doesn't require a lot of technical knowledge.
