I attempted 2 instull da chip myself but I made a mistake so he gave me his old ps2 mother bord.I dont know he instulls those things and I was gona pay him so I dont think that he would kill da ps2.And when it worked it took like 5-10 minits to load/read a disk.

Yeah... I don't really have good news for ya Stefan. Is your friend a qualified solderer, and what modchip did he install? I don't want to jump to conclusions and say your SOL, but it doesn't sound good. I avoided getting one for that very reason, and if I did it would be from a qualified professional. IF it isn't butchered, then you may have just gotten a cheap modchip, there are a lot of imitations out there. The DMS 4 Pro and Pro lite are two of the better modchips out there. There is also the DMS 4 EZI Pro which is solderless. Which version PS2 do you have and what % of the time does it load the disc? There may not be a lot I can do to help, but a little more info could help me and some of the members more familiar with mod chips help you out. Til then try to relax and don't beat yourself up too much, you are not definitely screwed. Post a little more info and at least that'll be a start.

Ok so the person that did the mod chip had a model 39001 like mine .He had a magic 2 mod chip and gave it to me (it worked).but his ps2 wouldn?t load all da disks. So because he is a rich lil ****** he just got a new ps2 (slim line) and got the matrix mod chip. then I attempted 2 salder da mod chip and I killed da ps2 mother board so I got his olds ps2 mother board. My ps2 worked I took 5 min to load/read a game good. then he instilled da mod chip it worked. The next time he turned on da ps2 on nothing worked. He took out da mod then da ps2 worked he instilled da mod it doesn?t work witch brings me here! I saw a small plastic block missing and I am gona connect it today see what happens.

As far as I can tell after your friend took out the mod chip worked, and the second time he reinstalled it it doesn't boot correctly. Here is what your v. 7 motherboard should look like if the matrix infinity modchip is installed correctly: http://www.modchip.com/installpics/matrixinfinity/USA-V7.jpg As far as hot glue connecting the wires, modchips are supposed to be soldered. I am not in my element talking about modchips here, but the matrix infinity chip has 18 wires that need to be soldered, not glued. I don't know where to begin here: a.Learn from this, never allow anyone other than a quailified professional to install a modchip. b. With all the rummaging around inside the PS2 it would be difficult know what exactly went wrong. Did your friend make a soldering mistake and sever an important circuit path, did hot glue on the motherboard short out something, are all PS2 motherboards compatible and could that be problem? See what I'm saying it's difficult to get a fix on what the exact problem is. Your warranty is already done so I guess any further tampering couldn't hurt. Try replacing the "block" that's missing and see if that helps. What is the serial number on the motherboard your friend gave you? Newbies learn from this, mods aren't for everybody. Make sure you do a little homework before you decide to install a chip. Good Luck Stefan.

ammm this guy whent to College for this kind of stuff and he used a solder to conect tha wires but what I ment by the hot glue is insted of using black electrical tape hold tha wires in plase he uses hot glue. He dident say what if he might have done something to kill the ps2.He is actualy my friends uncle he is about 22-27 did my friends ps2 the 39001 with the exact mod chip then his ps2 broke and he got a new 1 (slim) and he instulled the mod chip (matrix) on it.ammm I am just gona install the two wires on the missing plastic block.ohh and by the way I have this mod chip http://chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/magic2/V7/page1.cfm

Stefan I came across this in the forums, it's not the magic modchip you installed, but it has to do with clone modchips and may have some relevance to your situation. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/224193 Are you positive you got a legit magic chip from a reputable site? My limited knowledge on this subject makes it difficult to give you advice. I would say try to replace the missing wires and see if that helps. To any members who are familiar with modchip installation and are reading this, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I connected the damn "broken block" and its still dousnt working!
I read the forum. I didn?t get the mod chip the guy who installed it for me got it from I think modchip.ca or something and it was 2-3 years ago. Like I sead he tried the mod chip it worked and stuff but the second time he installed the mod chip it didn?t work! I think that some wires are touching and the flow from the motherboard is disconnected somehow. This weekend if nothing works I need 2 take it out! And I am gona look around all the forums to see if people have the same problem. He sead to me ?buy another ps2? but I don?t think so I have the money but I just don?t wana buy one and realize that my old ps2 works just fine. And when the ps3 comes out I might not be able to spend $500 on a gaming console and like $200 on a mod chip and end up screwing that playstation up. Eny ways I am patient and I will find a solution. I am gona get pictures from the motherboard if that?s gona help.

Chances are the answer is in these forums somewhere. I will post if I find anything useful. Worst case scenario you might be out a PS2, but don't jump to conclusions. If there are any games you are dying to play, you can play them on an emulator for the time being. PS2 emualtion is sketchy at best, requiring a fair amount of RAM and a decent 3D graphics card, but at least it might be a temporary solution. You can pick up a PS2 emulator here: http://ngemu.com/ps2/index.php You will need the PS2 bios to get it working (think Google). Take care and good luck.

I have posted in another forum asking for some assistance regarding your PS2. As far as emulation goes, it's a little tricky with high tech systems like the PS2. First off don't use that bitorrent link to download the PS2 bios. The PS2 bios (basically core of the PS2 CD Rom drive) are copyrighted by Sony and as such, there are companies paid to monitor your ip address and you don't wanna get served with a Saturday morning lawsuit lol. I can't link you to them directly, as that is highly illegal. Search Google for Ps2 bios or Play station 2 bios and you'll find several sites that have them. once you have them it's a little tricky to configure the PS2 emulator. There are series of audio, video, and DVD-ROM plug in's that need to be configured to play a PS2 game on your computer. There are some that will be packaged with the emulator when you download it, but those probably won't work with a lot of games. Fear not all emulators, plug ins, and bios are free. People put them on the web so that the average gamer can enjoy the benefits of playing PS2 games on their PC. Here is a link that contains a brief description of PS2 emulators: http://www.zophar.net/psx2.html As you can see the ones featured here are a work in progress. That is the problem with PS2 emulation, not a lot of reliable emulators and little support for existing ones. It also is very hardware intensive and requires a Pentium 4, (or AMP3500+) a lot of ram, and a decent 3D video card. Don't be discouraged if you can't run the games you want, it pretty much requires a gamer's PC.

Yeah I'll fiddle with the Ps2 emulator I have and see if I can get it to run something. I don't know if I'll do it tonight, but I'll definitely look at it this weekend. As far as someone using your IP address, are you the warning said someone is using your ip address? Do you share an internet connection, and are using hi speed or dial up? A warning about someone using your IP address is unusual and could be a sign of malware. I have seen warnings like another computer is logged into your account at this time... but as far as an IP address, that is unusual. An internet protocol (ip) addess is like a finger print which identifies which computer you are using to connect to the internet. If you use dial up it changes each time you connect to the net. Some hi speed connections have static (constant) ip addresses, depending on your isp (whatever company you have internet access from). Do you use a firewall? I wouldn't be overly concerned with this warning, unless it persists. No you don't have to be connected to the internet use an emulator.

Yeah don't worry about that error message unless it pops back up. I reccomend getting some form of Anti Virus Protection (I use Trend Micro PC-Cillin, it is the best, but Mcafee is also decent), but that is totally up to you. As far as someone using your IP, that definitely sounded like malware. The only way I know of for that to happen is for someone to use a trojan to grant them administrator access to your PC. Sometimes reinstalling windows doesn't get rid of trojans or viruses, but if you wiped the motherboard you'll be okay. Either way it's certainly nothing to lose sleep over, unless you notice any unusual behavior on your PC. Take care.

Ok good! Because I cant get another pc. Just one more question about the ps2 emulator. Do you need original components form the console to play? Can you play backups/burned games and how are the graphics?

Ohhh and just out of Curiosity where do you live? lol I live in Calgary Albera Canada rite now.

Well I don't have a lot of experience with PS2 emulators, but the graphics should be about the same as on PS2. Yes you can play backups and burned games on emulator. No you don't need any components from your PS2, it's all on computer. I live in Florida, USA.

And do you think that curent computers wil suport that kind of graphics that ps3 will. I have like a 64mb graphics card and my question is what kind of platforms can I play e.g.nintendo64/gba/ps2 and so on.
