That's very impressive Russ! I definitely like their BlacX model I have. I'll have to keep such a case in mind for a secondary down the road ;)

Oman7,

That's why I included the link from Thermaltake, so you could see how it works. bottom PSU, and handles the longest video cards. Looks pretty cool too!

It's the free shipping that makes that deal. $50 for a case of the features/quality that Thermaltake produce like that isn't especially amazing, but most of the rivals to the V9 don't have free shipping, or at least they didn't when I last looked. The inbuilt hotswap dock is a nice idea assuming it works. Personally though, I think a 2.5" internal bay might have been more useful than a 2.5" external hotswap dock! If I had an SSD I would be sticking it in a wiring loop inside the case like I do now, not leaving it exposed to the outside all the time. There are a few complaints about the plastic tool-less PCIe covers, which I can understand, as I've broken one of those off before. Once you know how they work you can usually lock/unlock them without breaking them, but they're so flimsy they will snap in half with less force than you might consider 'they're a bit stiff'. That of course is experience from coolermaster cases as I haven't built/upgraded a thermaltake for ages, but as far as I can tell they're quite similar.

I couldn't help but laugh at how they wired the USB3 front connector. Clearly thermaltake never saw the internal USB3 header coming...

Sam,

The docks can take either a 3.5" or the 2.5" Sata drives. If you look at the pictures from Thermaltake's site, they show a 2.5" in the front bay and a 3.5" in the rear. both bays are identical. Very useful in my opinion.

Best Regards,
Russ

I thought the same thing when I saw the blue wire. LOL!!

Again though, I would take an internal adapter bay for 2.5" drives over the 2.5" external. The 3.5 is useful of course.

Sam,

OK, I misunderstood your meaning. That particular case has 2 3.5" bays, and most SSDs come with an adapter anyway, so it's not all bad.

I've not seen one that comes with an adapter personally... I'm sure they exist, but it's not something I'd take for granted, nor something that would be the defining reason why I buy a particular SSD.

Well, simply going by past experience, neither the Intel, nor original OCZ (Core, Solid series) came with adapters. Perhaps that's a trend that's changing, or maybe that they provide them with more expensive SSDs (the ones me and my friends have had have all been £100 or less RRP)

Sam,

I was doing some looking last night, and all Boxed Intels now come with a bracket. The OEMs don't. About half of the OCZs do as well. Some corsairs and Kingstons do, but the samsungs don't.

Unfortunately, the only place you can get those for that price here is on ebay from hong kong, so I'd be waiting about 6 weeks for shipping.

Ouch...

I don't even know if I can afford that cheap price! I was on vacation last week, so I won't get paid this week. It's gonna feel like a long time, between now and my next paycheck :( I think i've thought of a few ways to scrape by though, and I'm definitely gonna need those eventually.

I was going to buy some, but when I thought about how many I'd need, and how my backup drives wouldn't ever be going anywhere, they just need protecting from being exposed, and I can stick them in a drawer to prevent that. Saves me having to buy 16 of those things.

In my current environment, it's a good idea to put them in those. Really dusty. And I don't have any free drawers. Besides, I think they protect them in more than one way. It also helps for organization :)

This is a phenomenal deal! I think I should have gone this route to begin with. I believe my card is defective, or my port is simply not seating it well. It's definitely not a driver issue. No driver installed, and I experience brief lockups with the card installed. I believe somebody else called it a port timeout. 4.99Shipped!

Here's a very good deal on a very good WebCam. I can recommend the site, having bought many components from them in the past.

GM,

Good to "see" you as well. I hope you and yours are doing well! If I'm not mistaken, you were the one who first mentioned this WebCam on this thread, a long time ago, and it was only about $15 at that time. It might have been the 3000 though. Now the regular price on the Egg is $36.99.

As you can see, I'm still building. Upgrading the motherboard and memory was like doing a complete new build, with an automatic increase in performance at stock speed of about 10-12%. Easily OC'd to 4.2GHz. I've set it to 3.6GHz and fine tuned everything for that speed, as I'm leaving it to my good friend Russell, with Oxi being left to another good friend, Dave.

The overclock is very impressive at only 3.6GHz. Check it out on the Overclocking thread, post #11242. Far better than it was at 3.7GHz on the 790X board and 1066 DDR2. Right at 93,000 MIPS with a memory bandwidth just short of 9000MB/s with DDR3 1333MHz Cas7 Ripjaws at 7-7-7-21!

Warmest Regards,
Russ
