Hi and welcome to aD :)

Ok so its not reading the disc...

Does it recognise that there is a disc in the drive at all try my computer and see if it registers there...

second when u are gettin this error wat program are u using if ur using DVD Shrink make sure u hace either have AnyDVD or DVD43 in the background.

Try using DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter to break the encryption first.

DVD Decrypter

Need more info.

Is Drive E: a DVD drive?
Is there a disc in the drive?
What program(s) are you using?

boran - what makes you think you have to have anything in the background? The error is most likely from a damaged or dirty disc. He can try cleaning it up with soft tissue and try again. If the same error occurs then the disc is damaged and will not rip. Using Decrypter will more than likely produce the same result.

Here is the error message you recieved:
Quote:
"DVD Shrink encountered and error and can not continue
Failed to read file "(Device)\" Data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

Your just left off the cyclic redundancy check part when you posted.

The movie "Friday" contains no newer copyright protection on it, so it is indeed a dirty or scratched disc. Clean it, then try to rip it again.

A CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) error is DVD Shrink's and/or DVD Decrypter's way of telling you that it cannot read the disc (DVD). It is caused from the disc being to dirty (fingerprints, smudges, etc.) or being to scratched. First, try cleaning the DVD. You can try toothpaste, carwax, or pledge to lessen the severity of the scratches. (By no means am I saying that you will totally restore the DVD back to original condition, all your doing is just trying to get DVD Shrink to successfully read it.) If DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter still generates this error message, I suggest returning the original for a different copy.
