Hi, getting frustrated, had been using DVD X Copy for a few years, as U know it`s not able to do much with the more current DVD titles, so was looking for a way to get the job done. Time isn`t a factor for me, if it takes a while so be it, using freebie software to do the job sounded great, so I started looking into what you are talking about here. Shrink, and Decrypter to do burns.
Reading here I`ve DL`d several of the suggested softwares, loving DVD Decrypter, but unfortunately it`s no help alone on DVD 9`s.
DVD Shrink is driving me nuts, I`ve read all of the stickies, and followed the guides for using both Shrink, and Decrypter, but not getting the Shrink thing to work.
I`m talking about 4 different computers, all running without a hitch on everything else. I`m talking about 3 different DL`s of Shrink using what was given as the "current" DL for it. I`m aware sometimes U get a bad DL, plus computer differences, can make things screwy, so I`ve tried different computers, and DL`d 3 times, getting same probs.
Problem, usually occurs when I go to hit Backup, but sometimes during the initial scanning of the flick. The Computers just plain lock up, forces a manual shutoff, and reboot, something I don like to do.
All of the movies I`m attempting to burn are newer copies, though some are 3 to 15 year old flicks (remakes onto DVD), play well, and don`t seem to have any other problems when just playing them, about 40 titles in all, and none are the villans everyone talks about being hard to burn. I just want to make some backups so I don`t get the origionals scratched. On many of them I am able to burn them on DVD X Copy, so I know it`s not some strange-o protection thing. I just can`t get Shrink to work.
I`m thinking the link that I`d DL`d from must be bad, or something. At present I can`t find the darn link, or would post it here, but I`m certain I DL`d it off info posted in this site, not sure if it was this forum.
If anyone feels it might not be the software/site/link, whatever please advise also.
Any help appreciated.

Duck tape is like the force, it has a light side, a dark side and it holds the world together.

DVD shrink doesn't update anymore, I willing to bet you got the most recent version. 3.2? And if you're using DL then why bother waste time shrinking.

GlueEater - Where did he say he was using DL disc?????? - He didn't, he was saying "DL" instead of typing out the long word "downloading" or "downloaded".

calhounm, thanks for the link, but seeing it I`m pretty sure that is the 1 I had been "downloading" from, and the guide was for sure the one I was also using.
My problem as to posting any log of what has been happening is that I`ve been geting a complete lockup of whichever computer I`d tried it on, (nothing is working, mouse locked, keyboard making that beep/beep/beep thing, system frozen) and the only way out has been a hard shutdown, which pretty much zaps the past info on restart, so there isn`t anything left as to what it`s doing. It reminded me of old Win98 days, haven`t suffered lockup like that since using Win2000, or XP.
I`ll download again, and pop it onto a different computer, and give it another try.
GlueEater, I think that temj had my intent correct, I was being a lazy typist, and putting DL, instead of typing the whole word "download". Sorry I wasn`t aware of DL Disc, this is the first I`d seen mention of that one.
Thanks all for the reply, I`ll keep working at it, seems if so many others are able to use Shrink, I must have had a bad run of DL (download) luck, I`ve looked at the computers I`ve had this problem with, and can come up with no other concrete explanation for this mystery. All of the systems are different enough that it doesn`t appear to be a "common" software/set up/component type problem.

GlueEater, no prob, I`ve just breezed a thread or 2 myself, and missing 1 word sometimes makes the difference.
Back on Shrink, life is funny, and sometimes it`s just plain wierd, with Shrink it`s wierd. I`d gone back to the post where the link for Shrink was, downloaded again, and this time it`s working just like everyone says it would, well almost. On the 1st DVD it jumped me from Shrink, after it was done, right to my Nero burn program, I guess, or Shrink has a burn thing too? Anyhow I didn`t need to use Decrypter to burn. Guessing it didn`t have any encoding? The burn works great. It was at 59%, I was worried it would look terrible, but it`s way better than any VHS flick I ever saw, and as good as a lot of DVD flicks I`ve seen.

Thanks all to those who helped me out here, it was much appreciated.
