yes but with convertXtoDVD you will be able to create a nice menu very easily. I put 5 to 8 episodes per DVD with ConvertXtoDVD, you can force to PAL if you want it won't decrease the quality

I've been using Nero express for a while now but lately have had problems with sound lagging behind the video. Does anyone know how to fix that? Should I just get a new DivX-->dvd program and if so... which one?

How does the sound lag? Is it in synch at first and gets progressively worse, or is it lagging behind at a constant rate?

I'm not totally sure, but I think it has something to do with the way the audio is compressed in an AVI file.
I don't know how Nero works (I've never used it), so I can't tell you what exactly to do, but I've got a basic idea.
Get AVIcodec and see what type of audio format your AVI file has. If it's an AC3 (which I'm guessing it is), then you'll want to look here:

Check the AVI isn't lagging the audio in the first place.
If so, you'll need another download of the same file which isn't lagging.
If not, try using another converter, MainConcept or DVD Santa are a couple of good ones.

The free version of DivXtoDVD puts a watermark/ad on the video files it converts, doesn't it?

There's an earlier version that's still out there that doesn't have a watermark and doesn't allow you to make menus but I've never had a problem with any of my dvd players not playing dvds that I made with the program.

Alright, so Nero is still lagging... convertxtodvd skips... and I can't find a working version of dvd santa, the trial doesn't allow me to burn dvds. Any other programs out there people recommend?

How does ConvertXToDVD skip? I just made a DVD from 6 .avi's today and mine didnt skip, in fact it was perfect.

Some movies lag guys. it's not the programs but the problem will be from the movie. mainconcept is perfect but sometimes the sound of the movie lag. it depend if it's 44100HZ or 48000HZ. I didn't find a solution yet for that

If u don't mind about menus etc. you can use VSO's DivXtoDVD. The quickest and reliable convertor ever tried. Version 0.52 is also free. Version 2 worths the money if u intend to buy a most featured version.

Yeah, I'd also suggest getting DivXtoDVD, as I used it and it never screwed me over. Except when I found out that it had put a watermark on my video... in which case I had to buy the whole program.
Anyway, try to find the version that zrdb was talking about.

hi..I am new to this thread and am using convertXtoDVD software to convert AVI files to DVD.While the software is working fine,I cannot get 16:9 screen as my final DVD.Iselect this option from the menu but always get 4:3.Is anyone else encountering this.Otherwise I have no complaints about the software.

id depend if you have PAL system at home or NTSC.
if your tv is NTSC and the movie is PAL, either if you made it wide
(16:9) you gonna see it full screen(4:3). i had the same problem in the past

I am very stupid in this area and might not even be on the right forum but I recentley downloaded a movie and when I tried to play it the sound is great but the picture has these horizontal lines running through it so that you can't even tell what the picture is. Is there anyone that can help me with this or at least point me in the right direction? like I said I am very stupid in this area so don't laugh to hard about my question. :)

Either your video file is corrupted/incredibly bad quality, or you have some sort of codec issue. That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head. Have you opened it using AVICodec and seen the type of audio/video streams it has?

Use GSpot to find out which are the codecs of the original video file and then choose the output format (Usually I use automatic because when you changing from one to an other you always have to compromise). No further ideas from my part about this thread.

Wanted to know is someone could help me. I recently got the Chronicles of Narnia and it was in 2 AVI. files. I tried to use TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress but I keep getting an sample error when I get to 50%. I had used this program a few time to make 2 700mb files fit onto one dvd but now everytime I use it to combine and fit them on a dvd I get the smae problem. Just wanted to know if someone could help me out or lemme know a better program to use. I have been looking at this forum for a month and you guys have been very helpful. So i figured maybe some one would point me in the right direction.

I got that ConvertXtoDVD program. I just have one more question. Thank you guys for having the How to convert video files to DVD using VSO ConvertXtoDVD guide it was very helpful. I just needed to know if I add 2 AVI files will it turn it into 1 or what do I need to do to make it so they turn in to one big file?

Just convert the files one at a time then use DVD Shrink in the reauthor mode to make an iso file.

hi jaizon
if you want to convert directly to 1 big file use mainconcept. this program is super good and you can select all the options you want. u can join too many files together and convert them into mpeg2. all what you have to do is in file you select "add to batch list" you do it for the files you want to join. try it

Avi2DVD Step 1 - Input Settings
Hi guys, tring to use Avi2DVD...
I have a couple of files in AVI format and I want them converted to DVD format merging them in one file.
According to the Avi2DVD tutorial provided in this site, I renamed all my AVI files in sequence like Video 01.AVI, Video 02.AVI, and so on and then opened the Avi2DVD interface and from the Input tab selected the first AVI file, and set the Output tab to a specific folder. After that I clicked the Add Job. However, when I did the same procedure to add the second file choosing the same output folder the applciation complained saying that I must select a diferent folder as output for the second job.
How it could be if I want to merge those files in one movie? What I missed?
The Avi2DVD states the following:

However, if you have your movie on two or more files, you can open them all at the same time. Lets say your first half of a movie is your CD1 and your second half is your CD2. Name the first half 'video CD1.avi' and name the second half 'Video CD2.avi'. Now Avi2DVD will load in both halves. Don't worry, this also works for subtitles files. If you only have one file, then you don't need to rename, just load it in.
