How do I reauthor to capture only the movie, no extras, etc, and not have permanent subtitles? I get the movie, no menu of course, but can't get rid of the subtitles. thanks...roger

The only thing you should drag to the left side in reauthor mode is the main movie...If you have subtitles showing up you can probably turn them off on your set top player.

Thanks for the reply. I can turn off closed caption with the TV set, but the movie subtitles remain. It appears as though they can only be controlled from within the movie's menu, which is not available. roger

@roger01
What is your process for ripping to HD. Are you using shrink only?

I use Shrink first, then it links to DVD Decrypter for burning. roger

dvd decryptor shouldn't be doing any of the burning unless you're using it to rip the movies to your hard drive via ISO mode.

I've never used that process. I alway use DVDdecrypter first, then shrink, then decrypter to burn. AnyDVD runs in BG.
I never get any subtitles (that I know of) that show up.

Turns out everything is fine. Operator error. Locoeng was right. I can turn the subtitles on and off with the DVD player remote. I had been assuming that "menu", which was not installed, did that function. Thanks for the help. roger

For DVD Shrink in Reauthor: Once you drag the main movie over,click on compression settings tab.There may be some more stuff to cut out like sub picture and extra sound streams. I untick everything except the AC3 5.1CH English only sound stream. That'll free up some additional space for less compression.

This is a false statement. DVD Decrpter is a ripper and a burner, and quite good at both.

This is the correct method, unless you prefer to use Nero or another comprible prog.

9mm, you are creating an extra step for yourself with that method. Unless DVD Shrink is unable to crack the encryption, you can start with it and save yourself 5-15 min, but with AnyDVD running in background DVD Shrink should work everytime.

When you open dvd in shrink click on re-author right click on title 1 and add or you can drag it to the left. Click on compression settings and uncheck subtitles etc, do not uncheck all of your english to your preference. If you want quality just the movie it works.

hmmm, interesting. I just got into this habit by using bbmayo's guide, have never used shrink alone. Will try it tonight. I suppose that I have to click the open file button in order to rip?
thanks friend.
