Nero API version: 6.3.1.17
- Nero's too old, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.16, download "update package 1" from here - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero-up.php

- try to close down more programs prior to dvd work/burning to free up more memory

- you're burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space

Recorder: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B, Media type: DVD-R

- what can i say, these are some of the most awful atrocious, utter rubbish dvd media you can buy, and you bought them! (sorry but they're awful, glance at my signature where CMC discs play the starring roles)

- God-awful discs as i say. but also follow ALL other suggestions then try better discs
Quote:
Burn process failed at 12x (16,620 KB/s)
- whoa, too fast, you're torturing those awful discs (they deserve it for being poor quality though) at 12, try 4x

- CDRALW2K.SYS is part of Roxio. try uninstalling Roxio (doesn't always play well with Nero), then you might need to fully remove using Roxio Zapper - http://www.microadvantage.net/utilities

Also, the ATAPI drivers are supposed to be listed in this section, this will be sorted by following this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

Thanks for the help. I'll give those a try. I didn't realize that Memorex was a bad DVD. I've used them before and never had a problem. Thanks again.

Well, I had been using Memorex and then went to the Office Depot brand because they had some on sale, then went back to Memorex this week, when I started having problems.

Also, what's the best way to figure out what's what on the Task Manager so I can clear it out to free up some resources?

Under the tab "applications" in Task manager just close everything execpt the program that you are using to rip and/or burn.

And remember to switch the media, I;d suggest Taiyo Yuden b/c other COs have been gettin kind of cheap. i.e Verbatim or so I hear.

Oh, I thought the previous thread meant to clear out the "processes" running under the task manager. I never run any other prigram while I'm running Shrink, but I did notice a lot of "prcesses" running.

Thanks.
