MY DOWNLOAD SPEEDS ARE SLOW

I am using Azureus to download Beatdown Fists of Vengeance, my broadband speed is 512kb(not too sure because when i start internet explorer a the bottom right corner it says 'broadband has connected at 2.3mbps) my download speed is 10kb average and the highest its reached so far is 20kb.I left the download on all night and its only done 33.5%.What shall I do?THANX IN ADVANCE

Azureus has a very unique feature built right in!! It's called the "help" tab on the top of the screen. In it you will find the "FAQ" tab, if you dare to click on it.........the first issure you will find is "My download speed is slow"...and IF you dare to read it.....who knows what may happen......

welcome to the world of bit torrent. torrent speeds are not determined by how fast of a connection you have but by the popularity of the file and how many people are seeding the file. whats the seed rate of the file ?

i have never heard of Azureus,so cannot help with that,however type adslguide into google and follow yhe links to test your broadband with them.i found the site pretty accurate.have u tried downloading stuff from other sites?is the speed ok with them?what speed is the file you're downloading set at?

well that dont sound right if its 18 seeds and you only get 20k. also the reason your pc says broadband connected at 2.3mbps is that a lot of isps restrict your connection speed by limiting the bandwidth at their end. the speed your pc displays is what the pc reads from what your hardware can do. i have a 2mb connection but my pc says 10mb. Azureus in my experience sucks. i would suggest using bit comet . also where did you get the file from, was it a public bt site or one that required registration. also is the 18 seeds the seed rate displayed in the torrent information or is that actually what Azureus displays

I download the file from www.mininova.org which is a public site and the 18seed is what Azureus says.

try adjusting the Azureus settings like mentioned by
1250night, he told you what to do to speed it up.
there are many tips and tricks.
if there were 18 seeds and at least that many leaches then you
should get way better than 18KB/s
And for the record Azureus is one of the best torrent programs
out there. i did a few new games and was getting between
100-475 KB/s, but i do not do many from public trackers.
I prefer the one's that you sign up for. as long as you give back
as much as you take you will get much better speeds

BitSpirit is a very good torrent program as well. You all should look into that one, Azureus is a resource hog, because its coded in crap java.

That's why you stop using torrents and go to newsgroups as someone else said. P2P just plain sucks. Any form of it. There is a much better downloading world out there.

The whole point of bootlegging and torrents and p2p is so you dont got to pay.
Newsgroups you got to pay.
Dont start with this you get what you pay for when that one person has a crappy internet.
So screw newsgroups and Im going to continue do use torrents because that is what works for me.

someone i know has just started using news groups
basically they cost money,the cheapest around is about $12.95 a month
you pay for a server,which gives you maximum download speeds constantly
so if you have a 5 mb connection,you will constantly be downloading @: 5 mb worth of bandwidth (about 600 kb/s)
the speeds are instant,no worrying about seeds
you need a downloading app similar to bit torrent,..called "grabit"
you download the nzb file,also similar to torrents,open it in grabit and the files start downloading
they come in the form of rar files but also come with PAR files,which are used to repair damaged files
my friends experience so far,cough cough is that these newsgroups,albeit fast,they are much more prone to errors,mostly due to the dicks that cant upload them properly,or tend not to run the sfv file before they upload the damn things
....may sound ungrateful,but when someone wastes gb's and gb's of download's on ps2 games,when this someone could be downloading porn instead,its a pain in the jacksee....hehehe

Newgroups are the best IMO. Most ISP have ok to crappy ones that only have about 4 days retention. Usenetserver is $40 for 3 months and has at least a month retention. So that's all my movies, games, music and software coming down at 400kbs all the time. It's worth to to me. Here's a guide for those who don't know about newsgroups:
