Hello, I encript my movies first with DVD Dcrypter.then I open up DVD shrink 3.2.0.15 and select open files, Then if its below 4,464 ill select backup. The movie burns with Nero and everything works fine. My question is when I play the movie it eather stops or freezes in a frame half way threw the movie. what am i doing wrong? when I first started using this to back up my movies the first few worked great! Now its doing the freezing thing. Please help and thanks in advance!!!

Set your target size to 4300 in your options of DVD Shrink, also don't burn at more than 4X. What brand media are you using? El cheapo memorex, imation, and many others are no good. Some good media brands include Sony, Fuji, and Maxell (Made in Japan) and Ritek, Verbatim, and Taiyo Yuden.

How do you set your target to 4300 on DVD Shrink? I went threw every movie and got rid of everything trailers ect. but the main movie it self and that brought the # way down. I havent burned since then to see if it worked though. I also think i was burning at a higher speed other than 4x. I use Maxell DVD+R 8x/4.7GB/2hrs so they are not cheepo's I think! Oh one more question when i choose just the main movie I know what to select but I had a movie that had 2 of them (main movies)there so I chose both. Why were there 2? one was just a few MB smaller. It was like title 1 and title 2? THANKS!!!!

Last question first.

Usually the 2 different titles are a Widescreen movie and a Standard movie. Just choose the one you want.

To select your target size, open DVD Shrink, go to Edit,Preferences, and then preferences again.

Once selecting the main movie title you can still get your compression down some more by clicking on the Compression tab and getting rid of all audio except the AC3 5.1 and any subtitles you don't want.

Some Maxells are questionable. Usually if the label says Made in Japan your in like flynn. I'm currently using Maxell+R full hub printables that coded as Hitachi. You can see what yours are by downloading this little tool.

Keep the burn speed on those 8x rated maxells to 4x and see if that rectifies the problem. Rule of thumb: burn at 1/2 the speed the media is rated at. I don't think your problem is due to target size as the freezing problem would be at the end of the movie but it is still a good idea to reduce the target size to 4350 give or take. Keep your firmware and burning software current. Defrag hdd regularly and maintain an adware/spyware free system. Shut down excessive background proggy's while transcoding and burning. Let us know those MID codes. Good luck.

First off thanks for all the help everybody!!! How do I determine which is regular movie and which is wide screen? I rember one saying at the begining of the movie when i was previewing it, it said "something to fit the screen not exact words!". Oh and where the movie messes up is always about 1/2 hour in or little later in the movie never at the begining and never at the very end. Is there a update for the DVD Shrink 3.2 or any other cool software i can mess around with thats not hard to work? Thanks again you guys/girls are great!!!

The one that says "this has been altered to fit your screen" will be full screen and the widescreen vs will usually have black bars on top and bottom although not always depending on the format.

The latest and final vs of DVD Shrink is 3.2.0.15

Use dvd identifier http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ and give us the manufacturer and ID of your media. Again try a burn at 4x.
