Ok - I have installed the latest version of the MaxDrive Pro software (got via the link a couple of pages back).
The software on the disk didn't let me drag and drop for some reason.
I had dragged the .dol file onto the Pro software and the Cube side now says "Image Database". I was not asked if I wanted to "convert this to a memcard file" as per the first post.
Is this correct or have I done something wrong ??

Just try again. Format is first and drag the dol file to it and make sure not to drop it into the folder thats says "Image Database". It took me a few tries to get it on and get it recognised by the gamecube. But it works perfect since then. After the first succesful try I copied over the dol file to a different memory card and now everything is working great.

rsloot: got it working now thanks. It is not immediately obvious that you have to drop on the "image database" rather than just anywhere in the Cube side of the window.
My cube reads the MaxPro disc fine ... got the preparing memory card screen which takes quite a while ... and then the GCOS file appears to also be read without a problem.
All I need now is for my mini DVD-Rs (not Ritek ones) to turn up and I will hopefully be sorted :)

welcome skull_kid :)
1. Max drive pro works perfectly and if it doesnt, you need to adjust your POT.
2. There is no need for a newer GCos, 1.5 is working good.

Help !!!
I am now getting a "Hardware read error - Please reinsert the MaxDrive memory card" error when turning on my gamecube.
I have formatted the card via the PC software and re-added the GCOS BIOS but keep getting the same error.
When I take the MaxDrive GC disc out and reboot, and go to the memory options, the Cube claims the card isn't formatted ??
I then tried formatting the card via the cube, but then the PC software said it was full ??!!?? I formatted via the PC and added the BIOS again ... but still the Cube can't read the card :(
So, I managed to read the BIOS off the card ONCE (last night) but never again :( I have heard about unstable memory cards but that just takes the f**king piss !!! Excuse my french ;)
Any ideas on what to do ??

>> AdamBrunt: use the mini dvd for pc !
Eh ???
The mini-DVD for PC is only used on the PC, surely.
You always uses the mini-DVD for Gamecube in the Cube ??

Yes, and then you load the GCos dol file from the max drive pro software.

Right, I am getting very confused ....
According to the MaxDrive PC software I have the the GCOS file on the memory card.
1) I put the memory card in the slot on the cube, put the MaxDrive GC dvd into the cube and turn it on. After about 20 seconds of the MaxDrive logo I get a "hardware read error" !!! The cube claims the memory card isn't formatted so I format it via the cube's memory functions.
2) I then connect the memory card to the USB cable and the PC software claims the card is full - and the only thing I can do is format the card via the PC software and then add the GCOS file. Then go back to step 1.
Repeat this loop over and over again !!!!!

Don't know how ... but finally got it working again.
This time I copied the two 'files' onto another memory card. Tried with the normal memory card and it worked first time ;)
Problem I now have is the backup gives an "Unrecognised media format" error. Is this going be due to burning speed, make of DVD, burner, burner software ? Or any combination of these ?? [ Currently using Nero 7 on a Pioneer 101 I think it is ]
I have 24 of this DVD's now - and hope they weren't a waste. Couldn't find anyone who sold the Ritek G04 in the UK so had to go with another brand.

Well, i got the MDP and I tried to boot a game, "Media not recognized" so I guess I'll wait for my gamebit, and adjust that pot.
//What?//

I don't suppose somebody would be kind enough to send me game backup on a RitekG04 DVD so that I can see whether I actually need to modify my POT before actually buying the kit I would need to do it.

Done another burn using IMGBURN.
This time tested using DVDInfoPro ... Peak and Average were way over what they should be (500 and 80 respectively).
Tried the DVD in the gamecube - same result "not recognised".
But I am none the wiser if my problem is the burner (Pioneer DVR-105 with the latest firmware ... 2003 !!!), the discs I am using, or the cube :(
A pretty crummy mod system - if you ask me - if it can't give consistent results from one cube to the next.
