This might be a stupid question but why not load the GCos dol in via PSO and then swap a disc. I assume its not possible but did anyone try?
Im planning to buy the max drive pro also after reading this topic, great job on finding all this out! :)
Thanks for answering my question.

Alright, I ordered the Max Drive Pro, hoping it will arrive shortly.
But I got to buy some DVD's too...
Which one are better
- Platinum 8cm DVD-RW 2x 1.4Gb (RITEKW01)
- Mediarange 1.4Gb DVD-R 8cm
- Traxdata 8cm DVD-R 4x 1.46Gb (RITEKG0401)
- Memorex 1.4GB DVD-R 8cm 4X (CMC.MAG.AF1)
- Verbatim 8cm DVD-R 4x 1.4Gb
Who knows?
Thanks a lot :)
oh, btw... I got a NEC 3500 ND burner with hacked firmware for the boottype hack. Is it good or bad to burn my games as DVD-ROM or should I burn as DVD-R ?

burn them as DVD-R, there is no boothack req'd. RitekG04 is the tested and true type of Mini-DVD, so for you, it would be the TraxData 8-CM.

but is it bad to burn em as DVD-ROM? Since my burner is hard configged to do that now. Else I have to 'hack' it back.

not sure, would try it once if I were you then just change it back if it doesn't work. I don't see why it wouldn't, but still, never tried it before.

Ok, well.. they just cost like 3 euro, doesnt matter.
But I read on Mod that cube that you can also use disc swapping using just PSO and Anaconda bios (snake04 dol). Why are we all buying MDP then??? Can anyone tell me that? i might be able to cancel my order ;)

yes you can use PSO but you will also need a broadband adapter for your gamecube and a computer in the same room as your gamecube. Also, it takes a much longer time for every game you wanna boot, whereas the MDPro only takes 20-30s maximum. It's also cheaper than buying a PSO+BBA. Your choice ultimately, though ;)

I got a BBA and PSO already. But I was not happy about the streaming, it basicly sucks... ah wel... another 50 euro spent on the MDP... atleast I can take my cube anywhere and play backups too.

I also read that I can upload the Ninja Bios to my cube and also update the GC for no-swap functionality. Why are people using GCos then where you have to swap? Can someone explain me that? The MDP kinda seems like lost money now...

- put the disc always in your GC
- yes you can use mini DVDR to burn games on and play em (after using a softmod or modchip)
- use DVD-R (ritek media preferred)
and btw, you _can_ edit a message...

gundamy: It may be the rubbish dvd-rs or it may be that your gamecube needs a laser adjustment.

Is there a way to backup my original games using the md pro method?
if so, i believe i need a bba and crossover cable...is that correct?
and are there particular steps i should take?
please advise...i am hopelessly lost in this gamecube scene.
