Thanks for updating that Hursty, wasn't sure if I needed something special with Shadow the Hedgehog, stupid I know, but I check these lists all the time to see if there's anything screwed up like Neo was giving people trouble, but I had no problems with it after a normal rebuild =)

Hello
I have a problem with 3 games:
Rune, Pandora tommorrow and max payne....
I have used dvd decrytor to backup those games, and I have not encountered any error messages. When i play them on my magic 3.1 modded ps2, everything is fine until the game actually loads up..ie after difficulty selection, one or two player etc etc.
Then i get the "please put in a ps2 game" etc etc.
the odd thing is when i boot up the original game the same thing happens, but if i turn off the mod chip and then boot up the original game then it works..
please help..i notice that you have successfully backed up those games...

i used tdk ones....
but i dont understand why when i used the original games, booted up with the mod chip turned on, it doesnt work (as opposed to de activating the mod chip) i cant get past the "new game" selection ...whereas if i deactive the mod chip, and then boot up the original game it works all fine
is there such a thing as detecting a mod chip protection?..ie the protection exists where if the game detects a mod chip it doesnt work?
i will try Alcohol 120 with anotehr brand of disk and see if that works..i just dont want to try all number of combinations and end with a zillion coasters...i have used dvd decrytor with tdk and cheaper disks and tehy have always worked..

this is not the best chip in the world,but not the worst
have you got any games to work with it?
here are the instructions i have pasted from a site,in case you havent got them
maybe its the disks...???
The Magic 3.1 Plus has 3 boot modes:
- PS2 mode
- PSX mode
- Disable mode
It is assumed that your PS2 is in Standby mode (PS2 is not switched on).
PS2 Games:
Method 1:
-Press EJECT button to switch on the PS2.
-Insert PS2 game in tray.
-Tap RESET button once, the PS2 would reboot and then load your game.
Method 2:
- Press EJECT button to switch on the PS2.
- Insert PS2 game in tray, the press EJECT button to close tray.
- The disc will then take 2-5 seconds to be recognized and then boot.
To boot another game when already playing a game:
- Press EJECT button.
- The current game would then pause and the tray would come out.
- Change to another PS2 game disc and tap RESET button once.
- The PS2 would reboot and then load your game.
PS1 Games:
- Press EJECT button to switch on the PS2.
- Insert PSX game in tray, then press and hold RESET button to switch off the PS2.
- Now hold the RESET button to start up your PS2. Only release the RESET button once the Blue LED light of the Eject button lights up.
DVD Movies:
- Press EJECT button to switch on the PS2.
- Insert DVD movie in tray, then press and hold RESET button to switch off the PS2.
- Now hold the RESET button to start up your PS2. Only release the RESET button after like 4-5 seconds.
Disable Mode:
- Hold the RESET button for like 4-5 seconds to boot up your machine.

thanks for your time by the way.....
i have been booting up in the ways you have described...and the games have working, except the the ones mentioned...they all load up, to the pint where you chose new game..ie pass the ps2 screen, pass the initial movie, pass the difficulty selection, and after the load game/new game selection etc...then it says taht it is a none ps format disc etc
and this applied to the original game as well...only if i turn the mod chip off will it play the original game....i dont understand this and why it only applies to these games...chaos theory works but not pandora tommorrow....
the only explanantion is the mod chip???

cant get castlevania curse of darkness to work with swap magic 3.6 on v2 ps2 or shadow the hedgehog used decrypter at 2x with verbatim DVD-R castlevania loaded one time then nothing after that

I just made a straight burn with Castlevania. Ripped it at 1x with DVD Decrypter, burned at 2x on Taiyo Yuden's, plays perfectly. Of course I copied a rental, I didn't download it.

10. Q. What does rebuilding an iso mean?
A. It means that some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic. Games over 4.38GB's will need rebuilt. This isn't true for ALL games over 4.38GB's and differs on a game to game basis. There is no need to rebuild games if you have a modchip.
11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?

Download it and then follow these instrcutions and it will work.
1. select Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins list.

3. Click extract LBA
4. Click extract file
5. Click rebuild file
6. Click rebuild lba.
Make sure you do it in that order.
This worked for me when every other way failed.
It is very easy to do so even the noobies should be able to do it.
Keep in mind im backing up the PAL version, but if your having trouble backing up with NTSC then i dont see a problem trying.

Hi Hursty,
I was wondering was there anything that needed to be rebuilt or special consideration on backing-up ''SOUL CALIBUR 3'' ?
As i have a modded v12 with a h20 mod chip and i've tried playing the new original game and it doesnt work and when i backup it still doesnt work.
Do you have any problems playing original games (NON BACKUP) ?
Any help be would appreciated

soul calibur 3 was flawless backup and didn't need to be rebuilt. It might be that your disc is scratched or dirty. Or your ps2 laser is dieing.
