This was my first try at DVDRs with Ferris Bueller's Day Off DVD and also with Life of David Gale DVD.

Decrypted them both using DVD Decrypter [File Mode] to the hard drive. Took the VIDEO_TS folder, analyzed the movie and compressed with DVD Shrink. Got rid of almost everything except the main title, resulting in about 70% compression for the main title. Did the Deep Analysis. Then I made the ISO backup, and burned with Nero to DVD-R.

Then, when I was watching the movie, toward the end, about 75% through, it does a weird scene skip, and just jumps over about 3 to 4 seconds of the end of the scene, and onto the next chapter. The sound gets a little weird, and it just picks up at the next chapter. Happened with both movies. If I go back to the previous chapter, and play it again, same thing happens consistently. And it happens about 3-4 times in all, scattered during the last 25% of the main movie.

This happened with both Ferris Bueller and David Gale.

Any ideas?

Hi tewtor, and welcome to Afterdawn..

Lets take it one step at a time working backwards. What Brand and Type of Media are you using and what burn speed?

Download this free prog to find out who really made the disk:
http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

post the makers ID back here and we?ll go from there?

Hey Tewtor,

This usually happens when you burn your backup too fast and too close to the outer section of the DVD.

First what I suggest you do is to always check and make sure your recorder's firmware is up to date.

Second is to decrease the size of the output file created by DVDshrink, to do this open DVDshrink and choose edit->preferences, in the preference tab click on the down arrow next to DVD-5 and choose custom, set the file size to 4300.

Third, when burning with Nero, choose 4x as the write speed

And last, use good quality media to make your backups (anything made in Japan)

If all fails, then we can talk about booktyping.

good luck.
