Lately I've noticed that some of my burned DVDs are having skipping or pixel problems. I have used DVD Shrink and Nero for over a year and did not have a problem until know. I have a new Drive just for movies and I'm having many bad DVDs. I'm using Sony DVDs and burning at 8x. Could that be my problem?

Try burning slower (2X or 4X). Also use DVD Identifier to find out the Media Code/manufacturer of your Sony disks and post back here. The disks often recommended here are Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Fuji (Made in Japan). I think that some at least some Sony disks are made by Tiayo Yuden. Since problem started (if I read your post correctly) when you installed a new drive could that be the problem? What is your model drive? Does it have the latest Firmware installed (check at manufacturers site or at http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php)
regards

Just passing by thought I'd add my 2cents worth. 16x Verbatims are all I use and have never had a problem with them(I usually burn at 16x).

Because it's a new drive chances are the the firmware it shipped with it out for date, so absolutly check and update if needed. You should also check to see if your version of nero is also upto date, the current version is 6.6.0.18. To be safe you should, as stated by kringles, burn at 4x. The only other thing I would recommend you do is to keep the file sizes when using shrink to a custom size of 4300(4.3 gb), burning too close to the outer portion of the DVD can produce undesirable results such as what you describe.
