OKAY, so it's winter break my friend goes on vacation to Pakistan with her family, winter break ends and she's not at school. I asked her sister where she is and it turns out that both of her older sisters got married while on vacation! Isn't that crazy?! I can understand the older, 23 year old getting married but come on, the one I knew best, she's a high school senior and now she's married! She's gonna move to Pennsylvania I think, that's where her husband lives. This is crazy, of course she's going to continue her education, but getting married so soon?

Wow - there should be a law, women must be 25 (and men 30) before they get married, LoL :^)
Dunno what to say...
Well I can tell you, south-asian women are generally delightful and can be very attractive.
What can I say - blonds just don't do anything for me...

Too young! What's the big rush? It's not like you're waiting for marriage before you can make love, or what?
My own Mum was 37 when she had me, and that was (ahem) years ago before it became fashionable... (meaning it's somewhat less unusual these days).
Kinza m'dear, you are Senior in membership only ;^)
21!? (tryin' to remember 1978...) LoL

I guess you could call them arranged, I know they definately both saw and talked to their prospective husbands. You can say they went on vacation and found some good guys and married.

WHY ME LORD?
A man was wandering around in a field, thinking about how good his wife had been to him and how fortunate he was to have her. He asked God, "Why did you make her so kind-hearted?"
The Lord responded, "So you could love her, my son."
"Why did you make her so good-looking?"
"So you could love her, my son."
"Why did you make her such a good cook?"
"So you could love her, my son."
The man thought about this. Then he said, "I don't mean to seem ungrateful or anything, but ... why did you make her so stupid?"
"So she could love you, my son."

god, that's way too young. where's the freedom or the fun? methinx you should at least finish college and be settled in a good, steady job before you get hitched. my parents were 22 when they got hitched, and 28/29 when they had me, and that was a mistake; they were nowhere near ready and have had a hard time since. if i were ever to marry, i'd be at least 28-30 before it happened and 30 before i had a kid. we're living longer, anyway. why not make the 20s last? lol.

lol, arranged marriages are infamous for their so-called..."restrictions." I know Pakistani's in general are more lenient on the subject, and my parents would definately get my approval pre-marriage. I would meet the guy, we would talk, get to know each other. It's not like in some marriages where the bride and groom first see each other on their wedding day. I bet if I wanted to marry someone and asked my parents they would say yes. As of now though, I think I'll let them decide, after all they practically know me better than I know myself.

once a family moves to the US, one finds a tendency, over time, to become more liberal, except for diehard catholics and republicans (whom i don't mind if i offend). my family came here as catholics, and at this point my mother is a devout southern baptist and my father (i think) is an atheist. me? i don't know what i am...i'm still saying i have my own extremely liberal denomination (yes, i'm mocking denominations altogether) known as Hesteric Christianity. sadly enough, these days religion seems to be taking a back seat to everything else. this has had both positive and negative effects on society, and the negative ones, IMHO, remain those hardest felt and most strongely realized.
but i digress; the good thing is, here, if she wanted to, she could not have an arranged marriage; in other places, she might have to listen to mammy and pappy past 18. here, it's your own responsibility not to screw it up.
as for knowing yourself, i agree with you, craig. i'm 18; life is weird and changing. my parents, same as those of 99% of the kids in the US, don't know me. i barely know me. it's part of growing up and becoming another person, a separate entity.
kinza: i simply feel that isn't enough time to get to know someone. i've been with the same wonderful young lady for 2 years, and we learn more about each other every day. no, we're not emotionally ready for marriage. and no, we won't be, should the day come, for years. my views are that a couple should go through every stage of a relationship before marriage, save having children, in order to truely base their lives on devotion and love, not a good, clean, scripted time for a few months.
however, i do admire you, kinza, for sticking by your beliefs and morals. however i may feel about them, you remain steadfast and strong. this is a rare trait in the current times, with so many people having such weak mentalities and little forethought. i wish you well :D

ohhh, come on, i said don't prove me wrong.
anyways as far as religions go, i think the world would be better without them, people would just chose a "lifestyle" then there would be no racists and practicly no terrorist attacks, and a big ass list of ways that the world would be a better place, just my ass is all itchy from sitting too long.
on f*cking " official documents " im a catholic, but i don't realy give 2 f*cks about religion, because im more open minded than people like my RE teacher, i can accept people being gay, or getting cosmetic surgery. he was going insain before my prelims started ( type of major national exam { im in my 11th year of education}{15 yrs old} anyways he went insaine about how a new law was passes to allow anybody to get any job, like you could get a blind english teacher, or an accountant with that thing that makes them just fall asleep randomly, he was saying how a gay teacher could come in to the department (RE) and how he would kill them before it happened, and then just to p*ss him off i told him that would be against one of the 10 commandments, then he started reading some crap from the bible.
any ways the point is that the world would be a less stressfull place if there were no religions
f*ck, thats the most i've ever typed in 1 post i think
