Well lets see how many slim PS2 owners have had oveheating problems, for those of u who have had overheating problems, state how many hours it took for ur PS2 to do whatever happened to it.
And for those of u who havnt had problems, just mention the longest time u kept ur slimline on for.
(My Slimline has been on for around 5-7 hours at the max and hasnt had any problems)

Hi guys
Really weird problem. Just got the new slim SCPH-70003 from the PS service in UK ( replaced my old broken one ). I got Swap Magic 3.6 and a some copies of my original games. When I play originals everything works fine, but when I play copies my console just freezes.
All copies hang after about 20-30 minutes - screen just freezes, laser stops moving ( stays right at the begging of the disc ), disc is still spinning.
The longest I played sth was 2 hrs after that everything just freezes.
Is it possible that PS2 is overheating when reading only the copies but works fine with the originals ??

it seems like you folks have been playing your playstations too long as you may have lost all connection to reality or common sense. yeah, the picture on the box is indeed very deceiving, especially those sweet commercials. oooo a really tiny ps2, that's like, the size of my foot! where would they stick a fan? and how big could it have been? has anyone ever thought radiation causes heat? or perhaps the 8.4volts of electricity running through it? or maybe they are attempting to break it and somehow test it's true power so they can come on here and tell everyone not to leave it on for a week straight. i don't know, that could be true guys, really, but we better make sure.

but to prove a point, your all right. the ps2 slim line does indeed get very hot (overheat?)very quickly; but overheat? you should have all bought that 2 year warranty after all.

Is your ps2 modded, if yes maybe a laser fix is turning it off for you to prevent damage to the laser, if not then it could be something else, when it goes off whats the temperature of the ps2 like.

Naa, thats cool, the slimline can run for a long time without getting screwed, if its in a good ventilated area, with a good amount of space surrounding it, put it on a carpet and its finished.
