I am trying to find out why dvd shrink or decrypter recognize a double later disc as a cd-r.

Hey gooofey,
It's your drive that detects what media is loaded into it and then passes that information on to applications. Check to see if your drive's firmware is upto date, it's probably not detecting the media correctly. A firmware update should take care of it.

I already updated my firmware (reflashed) yesterday from the pioneer website and nothing changed. I was told plextor will recognize most everything, maybe I should have listened

Make sure in shrink that you go to edit->preferences->and toggle to DVD-9. Default for shrink is DVD-5.

Let everyone know what type of burner and media you are using. Post a log file if further burn attempts fail. I'm sure one of the senior members here will gladly help if they have the info to do so.

I am using a recently installed Pioneer DVD-RW dvr 110D and the media I am using is Verbatim DVD+R DL. Pioneer web site calls for Verbatim (Mitsubishi Chemical).

If you've updated the firmware, then to me it sounds like the media you're using isn't in it's data base(Pioneer just hasn't added it yet). You could wait and hope it's added soon, try other media, or do what I did, buy Plextor drives. I have the px-712A and the px-716A, they haven't let me down yet.

Since the media is kind of spendy right now, I'm probably better off getting the Plextor. Could spend a lot of money trying to find out what will work in the Pioneer. By the way, what works good with Plextor?

I use Verbatims 16x DVDs, I've also used many other types without any problems what so ever.
