As you all may know you can setup a list of friends in eMule. Basically if someone is on your friends list they will get priotity downloading from you as well as you being able to assign them an upload slot at anytime.
What i was thinking is we could get aa crowd of people from here to get each other on the friends list and we may speed up downloads and be able to trade things better
Sounds good yes but there is one problem!! In order to add a friend you need their IP Address and Port Number! Now I can see why we cant just post our ip addresses here since this is a public forum but maybe we could setup something where, you send your ip address and port number to me and i add you and then send mine to you (im not sure if emule will automatically add a friend to your list if they added you to theirs!) and i could send all the ip addresses and port numbers i have and you could see how easily it would build up but thats still not great!!
There is anohter alternative however. Create a txt document and name it something like I_AM_DELA.txt and say what server you are connected to, then i could search the server im on for the file and when i find it with one source i can double click it, go to my transfers list, click on the download and you will appear there. Then i could easily right click and add you to my friends list. I have placed a I_AM_DELA.txt in my shared directory and im on ProbenPrinz.de - Donkey Server No.1. Im on this server now because Silent Bob is down.
Connect to that server (if it says full keep double clicking until you get connected!) and then click search, make sure method is on server and search for I_AM_DELA.txt and when you find it double click it and then go to your transfers and you should see me there so right click and add to friends! I am not always there so if you send a message and i dont respond thats probably why!!
Now, do the same create your own I_AM_WHOEVER.txt and say what server you are on, I will connect to it and search for the file and add you on finding it!!
This is just an idea now and if used properly, downloading could become better!!!

completely new idea :)
Click IRC in eMule. Click the connectbutton and when its connected type
/join #aD_buddies
I'll be probably connected all the time but i wont respond a lot because i will be away or asleep!!

Look I'm totally new with the friend's stuff, but what do I have to do when I've added you to my friend's list and where can I see if you are added, since you're not put into messages --> friends

Dela your a genius! I wouldn't have thought of the IRC thing.
I forgot to connect to an actual server when I connected through the IRC, but I still started getting a download! I didn't expect that. I don't have a client id and emule says I'm not connected.
My download is slow ~ 4.7, but I didn't expect anything at all.
I'm not sure if anyone can upload from me though.
If someone on this buddy list reads this soon will you search for Upload_works.txt while connected through the IRC menu to see if anyone can upload from me?
Another cool thing I found:
When your in the IRC menu in emule click on the channel list tab, go find silent bob server and double click on that, this gave me three other buddies to download/upload from.

Ye there would be a lot of people on irc you could add to a friends list :) btw, downloads and uploads do work without connecting to a server! but for the sources, the servers are needed!!

I haven't seen many people in the aD_Buddies room lately, so here goes..
Please put this connect string under your preferences->IRC->perform
/join #aD_Buddies
That way you connect to aD_Buddies automatically.

Hi guys, I just started using emule today, so apologies if I'm just being dumb :-)
Every time I try to join somebody is already using the Nick, but I will persevere and hope to make some buddies soon.

Hey guys I've only been able to get onto the IRC channel once and no one was in there. When i click connect in the IRC tab now I get connected but no new window pops up and I cannot see any channels? I'm still trying to work it but if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it.

Hmmm....that's weird. I've supposedly been on #aD_Buddies since 20:42 last night GMT.
I don't know what any of this means but in the Status tab it says 'MOTD file missing'. Just below it says
20:42:21 -Global- We do not allow unsecure proxies on our network. Connect directly.
20:42:21 [nick]: End of /LIST
20:42:21 [nick]: End of /NAMES list
From there on in, it has time stamps followed by
PING?/PONG
It also said:
20:42:21: -nephilim.de.eu.irc.sharereactor.com- aqsg72:***If you are having problems connecting due to ping timeouts, please type /quote pong 781F22 now.
Sorry 'bout the information overload, but I don't understand what any of it means, so i just shoved it all in for good measure :D

#aD_buddies is on irc.emule-project.net. click preferences and click IRC and make sure thats what server is specified!
