You should edit out your sn# from your post.

For some reason the burner is not selecting correct write sequence for the disks.

That is for +r media.

I notice your burner has newest firmware. Are you sure you used the right firmware
when you flashed. The firmware you have in it is for dell oem. Is that what it is?

I do not think it is OEM...could that be the case? It was burning before with the previous firmware...then it stated to give me errors. I thought updating the firmware will do, but same error. Could it be Shrink or Nero?

I dont think it would be shrink. It could be Nero I guess. Your version is a few updates behind. I would update it to newest 6.6.1.4 first thing for testing before looking into firmware.

If your computer is a dell then this drive will be oem.

v0rtex123,

The current version of dvdshrink is 3.2.0.15, you can get it here if needed.
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/

The first thing you should do is what has already been mentioned, update you version of nero, the current version is 6.6.1.4. Here the link for the update, download and install packages 1 and 2 (without the yahoo tool bar.

You're using RITEK DVD-R disks which are not the best and have been known to be problematic. Try switching to another brand like Sony, Verbatim, or MITSU (make sure they're made in japan).

No need to burn this slow (2.4X), try bumping it up to 4x.

Two things to try:

1) Your version of nero 7 is not current, update it to ver 7.0.1.4b

get it here:
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php

2) Here the log shows:

**************************************************************
8:58:27 AM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 277
Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2266303 (503:37.28, 4426MB)
***************************************************************

Shrink is producing a file size of 4489MB and the burning process is failing/stopping at 4426MB. Have shrink produce an output file size of 4300MB, this will keep the burning process from occuring too close to the outer edge of the disk, which your burner seems to be having a problem with.

To do this run shrink and goto: edit-->preferences
In the preferences tab choose "custom" from the dropdown menu and then enter a value of 4300.

Did you change the output file size in shrink to 4300 before you tried again?

Also here the log shows:
********************************************************************
Book Type: DVD-R (2), Part Version: 2.0x (5), Extended Part Version: 2.1 (33)
********************************************************************

If you are trying to booktype the disk, booktyping can only be applied to DVD+R media and it looks like you're using DVD-Rs. Either switch to DVD+Rs or disable/turn off booktyping in nero (change setting to automatic).

Is there some reason you are burning at 2.4x, try it at 4x and see if this works. NEC's don't usually like this speed for single layer disks.

Can you post your most recent Nero log.
Did you make sure to set booktyping to automatic in Nero? Unless you plan on using DVD+Rs.

The log looks ok, the firmware also appears to be ok now @Version: 2.24 (NEC's web site also reflects this), the only possible problem I see is you choice in media, you switched back to using RITEK.

here:

RITEKF, in my opinion sucks and it could be that your burner doesn't like it either, try what I suggested above as far as media alternatives since the firmware is now different. Give sony, verbatims, or taiyo yuden another try and see what happens (try DVD+R media).

HEY FIRST OFF I HOPE YOUR USING ANY DVD WHEN YOU BREAK THE MOVIE DOWN BUT ALSO WHEN USING DVD Shrink YOU HAVE TO CHANGE OUTPUT TO 4300 AND THE GO UNDER STREAM DATA AND CLICK THE EMPTY BOX . BUT ALSO YOU NEED TO UNINSTALL HARDWARE AND REINSTALL FIRST THING THEN USE AnyDVD WITH IT RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND THEN USE DVD Decrypter THEN USE DVD Shrink AND FINALLY USE DVD FAB TO BURN WITH NEVER NO PROBLEMS BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR SOFTWARE CORRUPT TRY THIS IF IT DOESNT WORK HOLLAR BACK TO BLUEDRAGON WE WILL FIND YOU THE FIX.

v0rtex123,
You went from Nero 6 to Nero 7 and now back to Nero 6 . Nero 6 needs to be updated to version 6.6.0.18 and no more as version 6.6.1.4. is buggy.

SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 1, LUN 0, buffer 0x00B90000

Your burner does not like that brand of disk as it gets a calibration error next:

5:47:40 PM #126 CDR -1106 File Writer.cpp, Line 311
Power calibration error

Evidentially for that brand of blank media Pioneer has not written a firmware update for your burner. I really doubt they will. If you are in the US try Verbatim

If your going to use nero6, I recommend you use version 6.6.0.18 instead, it's stable and works with shrink autoburn option.

Uninstall nero from your system using the general cleantool found here:
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html

Install version 6.6.0.18 packages 1 and 2 form here:

Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Now according to your last log
Here:
Recorder: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D, Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: SONY08 - D1

I see you're using Sony DVD-R media (didn't you state you were going to use +R media above), the -R brand is made in Taiwan, so there may be some quality concerns there. Your burner is unable to properly recognize the media and apply a correct write strategy as indicated here;

Media Specific [16..63]:
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................

I would recommend you try Sony DVD+R media instead, the +R brand is manufactured in Japan and is considered to be of very good quality, it's all I use and have had very good results with it.

I also see that there is a "Power calibration error" displayed in the log, I believe once the burner correctly recognizes the disks you're using, this should go away.

Slow your write speed down to 4x until you're burning on a consistant basis.

I have been using the Sony brand DVD-R for quite some time. All of a sudden...DVD Shrink starts to give me these errors. I have updated my Nero, but still wouldn't complete the burning process. I have tried using the Sony DVD+R, same problem. Think it's time to buy a new DVD burner??? One thing I noticed is that I was able to burn newer movies...but the older movies i wasn't able to. Weird! I'll try to reinstall the DVD Shrink and see what happends from there...

What I had also noticed is that the media i'm using is 2.0 compared to the ones I had before were version 2.1. Could that possibly be why?

If you're referring to the basic format specifications versions (ver 1.2 or 2.0), this I believe has nothing to do with your problem. Your drive is just not doing well with correctly recognizing the media and applying a correct write strategy, you could try the verbatims as suggested by Car.Mike, I would also checkout the drives manufacturers website to see if they provide a list of tested media for that drive.
