DVD SHRINK PROBLEM - I NEED PROFFESIONAL HELP for all of you whom i helped burning re2 - maybe you can help me- all of a sudden DVD Shrink is burning my dvd's slow as hell- example- once the file is ready to burn ( i mean encrypted & analysed with dvd shrink) it takes about 20 minutes to burn a copy at 4.0x TO AN DVD-R - its been this way for over 100 movies... but now it takes 50-60 minutes- it happend since i install vobblanker- but i removed it and also did a system restore- i also uninstalled & reinstalled DVD Shrink- can someone tell me why my burning is now slow- or a way to fix that- I do not want to burn at a higher speed- To me it makes no sense- I also defragmented the drive to ensure it is optimal and have plenty of hard drive space to- dammit- someone through me some advice- it would be highly appreciated- thanks everyone.

Bekosha,

If you were to read the first page of this thread, you would find 2 solutions to the RE 2 problem. there are NO other proggys EXCEPT AnyDVD that can rip that DVD - Either your cousin had AnyDVD running OR he was ripping the "Bourne Identity" which was never a problem.

DVD XCopy would be the last proggy that could do the job as the company has stopped doing anything with their proggy for more than a year and has been out of business for almost a full year, 6 months before Sony introduced their encryption. The dead cannot rise again - Use the things that work OR devolop something new yourself - those are your choices -

God Bless ScubaPete! I tried downloading the trial version of dvdcloner AND VOBBlanker -- both froze up. Then tried re-authoring in DVD Shrink, same result. Almost pulled out my hair until I read SP's post on the first page of this thread which suggests using Decrypter with Shrink, as long as you download the PSL from the dvddecrypter.com site (Lightning UK is also a genius, I must say). Cutting and pasting the PSL code did not work for me. Had to download from the dvdd.com site. Then Decrypter worked. Of course, it added about 45 minutes to my normal burn time but, if more movies are using this technology, I guess it was worth the learning experience. Thanks!!

Hey ScubaPete, I do appreciate all the help you have given me and many others. Not only have you answered my questions regarding RE:2, but you have also answered my other questions on different threads and topics as well. I never stated you were rude, I do apoligise for not given you credit though. I'am very thankful that you do share your knowledge and experience, and then kick it down to us newcomers who are learning(this applies to everyone as well, who posts beneficial information). What I was saying was that when newcomers post good info, and then get critical remarks sent back to them, they may be hesitant to post again.

I had the same problem but was able to use VOBBlanker and had success.

Input folder = disk drive
Output folder = folder you create/folder available to hold disc content.

Ok, Im a newbie here but here's the answer to VOB blanker problem..I used VOB blanker finally after it was read from a lite on cd/dvd combo drive..wouldnt go through using pioneer dvr-a08 or plextor px 712..said reached end of VOB too early..so you have to read from ( i am guessing a non dvd writer ). I then went though DVD Shrink and pulled the larger file- fullscreen-- and have a perfect backup without the 2 minute delay at start..Also took it all to a DL dvd 8.5 gb and have complete full and widescreen w/menu's complete..using patch with dvd decrypter(Also Great Program)-- had a 2 minute gap before movie, same as with super dvd copy..Glad i made the backup before my 3 year old decided it made a good frisbee--it's ruined now, but i hope this helps..directions have been posted on how to use VOB blanker..It takes a couple minutes to analyze the disc, be patient, then it will bring up the contents--process all using a trial and error reader- you may find one that works like i did---i went through a few dvd writers unsuccessfully when i found the lite on sitting and used it---it is currently sold--not an old product--cd writer /dvd reader combo. Hope this unconfuses things..

Agent and Vetter thanks for the help. I was never able to get the PSL on this forum to work. However, with help from ScubaPete I was able to get a PSL that worked for me. All of the information on how to get this PSL correctly is posted on the first page, last response, posted from ScubaPete to me EGIFT73. Here is the link to go to: http://forum.dvddecrypter.com/index.php?s=89e63571c3a59eb2cfa2d2d930c85a89&showtopic=14891&st=0

If you don't have an account, sign up for one and in the RE thread, it has the PSL that will work. Use the same method that is posted here for getting the PSL to work properly. Which is:1) Download the PSL file, open and save in Notepad on your desktop,as "txt"files. (2) Load RE2 and start DVD Decrypter (3)Click on "File", go down to "Protected Sectors", and then click on "Import",(Note: When trying to import these files,You probably will have to select on All Files). After you do this you should get a message that says "Protected Sectors List imported successfully. From here, you just do everything you would do normally when ripping a movie.
Here is the PSL that I got from the DVD Decrypter forum, However, if it fails I recommend just going through the download process, saving to desktop, and opening with Decrypter from there. Hope this helps.

I am burning with a sony dru-710 16x dvd +/- dl burner and I also have a 12x sony dru-540 dvd r+/- burner and have had NO problems using vob blocker and also using the psl file that I posted on the second page of this thread. When you import the psl info you need to import the (PSL )part of that file,As for vob blocker when you bring the vob blocker program up you need to right click on all the files in the top box and then click prosess, after vob processes the info you go to Shrink and click the (open files tab) and find the folder where you stored your vob blocked files(not the file that you stored the vob blocker program in )I always name my prossessed files C:/VOB BLANKED (MOVIE NAME)not i'm not yelling...so I can tell exactly the right file I need....Shrink will anylize the file and You click (backup)then shrink burn the disk without doing anything else(oh,yes you need to put a blank disk in the drive too)Sometimes you will see a couple files in the lower box of vob blocker -you can add them and take a chance on an error or just leave them off,Disk plays just like the original disc.

In order to "see" some of this stuff, you need to put a disc in, any dosc.

Warning: DO NOT RIP A DISC OTHER THAN RE 2 WITH THE PSL LOADED.

That PSL folder is for that DVD only. Using it on another disc will just "hang up" your system. After 1 use, the PSL import disappears. Then it has to be imported again when you get the disc :(

Cheers,

Pete

Hi, I have a questions about burning the RE2.

Now i used Anydvd with Xcopy Xpress & it burn good (minus the (Black) pause before the movie) anyway I got this other program the DVD X copy 1.5 model.

Now with this old dinosaur i never had a problem burning really any movie until you guess it RE2.

Now i put the re2 in the driver start the Xcopy now it reads it good but when i put a blank DVD & get ready to burn I get "Genrator module close error"
does anybody knows what this means in english terms.

Is there something else i need to do before i burn this movie like changing something around or something else.

if somebody out there knows anything i don't about this problem please let me know.

Thanks!!!

In regards: to Bukem00 Newbie
Thanks for the Inform about voblanker. One important thing that was left out: I needed to check the box that says "change post into precomm. (Always) and also check the box that says "Fix elapsed time replacing cells"
Once I did that the program worked flawlessly and I was able to make a backup with DVD Shrink. I used reauthor mode in shrink and made a copy of the widescreen and extras only.
It plays flawlessly. Thanks for your help and everyone else's. (I also tried DVD Decrypter and imported the psl file but dvdshrink gave me an out of memory error)

We are truly lucky to have someone as knowledgeable as Bukem00, to come up with the best method when so many others have failed -

The entire forum should be grateful Bukem00, we still would be butting our heads against the wall were it not for your brilliance in coming up with solution all by yourself -

You're the best -

I think the best thing for Res-Evil is using first the VobBlanker 1.6.03 with DVD Shrink 3.2
Boths are free download
1-Insert the disc (Res-Evil)
2-Open VobBlanker program
3-For input folder click Browse and select your DVD leter D: or E: etc. and click Video_TS twice and for the hour glass until all VOB files arer displayed.
4-For output create your destination folder by clicking Browse and type any name.
5-On top left click File and select execute and wait
6-after finishing encoding close the VobBlanker application and open DVD Shrink.
7-on DVD Shrink click Open file(select the folder you created before)
8-Insert Blank DVD and click Backup and select new folder for backup.

The new DVD will bUrn complete With scenes, Languages and Extras selecctions.(no errors)

I second nrique - If you use the method described verbatim ... you will get a perfectly good working backup ... all audio ... all scenes ... all menus. I have found that with a little patience this method for me seems to be the only 100% solution for creating a backup of this fine dvd. I have tried almost all methods in these threads and the VobBlanker / DvdShrink combo method works flawlessly. One side note. When you use the VobBlanker do not change any settings or it will corrupt the end result. Leave all the settings "default" and let the program back it up to the hard drive folder. Then Shrink it any way you'd like. Thanks for all the good information and new ideas guys. ;-)

Anyone having trouble with PSL file, i think i figured out why the cut and past doesnt work,
on the first line it should be PSL, however if u highlight the whole line, you'll notice blank spaces are also highlighted, simply delete and resave and u are good to go. Hope this helps, and thanks to everyone who got the PSL codes and how to use it...LOL i've never known about that...just simply use DVDshrink..ne hows good luck.

Either VOB Blanker is a piece of crap or there's a step missing from the instructions. I get: "Input Error - Reached end of vob too early."

My conclusion: it's a piece of crap. I'll try DVDIdle.
