ran through all the steps and got the same problem that bluejet had...with the default MS dash still loading.
what do i need to do here? All steps worked and completed successfully, yet dash is still the same :!
bluejet, you say you found the problem...what is it? i have same revs on kernel\dash.
thanks for any help on this.

When the clock screen shows up, set it and push ok. Once you push ok immediately turn the xbox off and back on really fast by pushing the bottom button. Do not use the top button. Once you've done it it will show up. Enjoy

Step 11: Once you are back to the Main Menu, scroll down to 'Install Softmod'. Here's what you should be choosing for each menu (this goes in order):
a] Click Dual Boot for NTSC or PAL (which ever one is for you, if you do not know, please contact someone for assistance)
b] Click Knaves Ndure, Open tray = Retail
c] Choose either the Installation for EvolutionX or UnleashX. For a Novice, I would suggest UnleashX.
(step 11: a] i am using Mechassault what should i pick))?

ok once again i have ran into another probelm i DID back up the EEprom or whatever its called but when i go to install soft modd and do all that A-B-C stuff (still not sure) it gives me a message saying (BATCH PROCESS:FAILED)
(The Last item was:E\BACKUP\MS NOT FOUND.
ACTION RENAME.
WHAT DO I DO!!! please help me

Difference is just a few bug fixes and the menu's are a lil different.
For the guy asking about what to do for step 11...you should have posted the options you had, but try to do the dual boot ndure.
Er...wow...I went away for the weekend and now there are like 15+ posts...sorry if I didnt get to answer everyones :(

If you still have your network settings set to STATIC, you have to change it to DHCP. Let me know how that works.

I have tried your tut with 007 and splinter cell. When i press check points, or load mission - hdd, the light on my xbox turns orange and the screen just goes black. It was like that for 5 minutes and then i just turned it off. How do i fix this?

ok i changed it from static ip to the other one, when i try to sign onto live it goes to the start troubleshooter option, when i try to troubleshoot it, it starts downlaoding an xbox live update and 3 quarters of the way it stops and tells me my disc is dirty or damaged.

Well, first of all, great Tut!!
I did everything "by the book". The only problem is that my Xbox doesn't display correctly on some tv's, I tested it on 4 and it only worked correctly on 2 of them, on the others the image was black and white... Any ideas to solve this problem??

Do you know if some of your tv's are NTSC or PAL?

To get on live you should have already had any updates before softmodding. If you didnt have the updates, I would restore the dash, download the updates and then reinstall the softmod.

Well, they're all PAL. I remember testing them with my old Dreamcast (you know, the 50Hz-60Hz) and they were fine...

So, did you use the PAL installers then? You might need to get splinter cell to install it for PAL.

Yes, I used the PAL version of Splinter Cell to install the softmod.
Could it be something on the "Settings" menu??

IDK. I dont deal w/ too many people w/ PAL. Check out Xbox-hq.com Check their SID threads and see if your answer is there. If anything, ask the question :P

Thanks! I've searched the forums, and I think I've found it: it involves a patched version of the eeprom file used in the exploit... I'm gonna try it on the weekend and then I'll post the results.

You seem like a really smart guy that might be able to help...Please
My 11 year old son recently sat down online and used my notebook and a crossover cable to mod his XBOX using Splinter Cell (with people's help from this forum). It appears he got banned (not sure) but can't access HALO on XBOX live any longer. He tried to restore back to original XBOX settings but deleted the restore instead by accident. I'm trying to get it back to original state and need help if it can be done. Do you know if it can be??? All help would be appreciated. Thanks a DAD. My email is removed

I tried leaving it on for longer this time (20min) still doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this, ive been trying to softmod for like 2 months, its driving me nuts!
