RAID was turned off in the BIOS - I figured out in the end that it's my onboard SATA that's not letting the drive be read in windows. Bought a VIA PCI SATA card yesterday, should be here monday/tuesday hoepfully.

Hi i read all the instructions and everything is well up to point 5 where it says save origainal firmware as original.bin
I click save and put filename in and press ok and it does nothing and then if i click on toolbox window i just get an hourglass as if its working away. I left it for a good 10 mins but no joy.
I have a ALI m5283 sata card which worked perfect for my hitachi 46d drive but just wont go any further on the 78 drive.
Any ideas

Is Xtreme1.6 (the firmware Maximus 360 FW Toolbox 3.0 installs) still the latest firmware for HLG? I know it's equivalent to Xtreme 2.3 Stealth, but there's Xtreme5.0 out now for other drives, just curious if there is any newer HLG FW's.
xbox, xbox360, ps2, and psp modder

HELP!
I get into mode b, windows recognixed drive and i insert game to check, then open toobox to dump flash, but software and pc lock up everytime. I have tried 20 times, same thing.
I open 360 toolbox, it says i need and game or movie, i insert 360 game, wait 15-20 seconds, then hit the raw dump firmware button, software locks up everytime.
Any ideas?
The drive door is staying shut throught the process with game in it, is this correct or do i eject disc ?

I'd say if you are having problems with the software 99% of time it will be your SATA chipset - get hold of one of the VIA PCI ones of ebay for 10 quid/20 bucks/whatever.

How do you like that? I bumped my own guide. I needed to use it again, because I couldn't remember all the steps.

You know this guide you have posted here is good, although its word for word almost identical to this one
http://www.360mods.net/tutorial/Textbook.pdf
Not only does that one have all the info you've posted there it has other Hitachi drives and the samsung one.

Well I know I first posted this a few days after the toolbox was released, but yeah it's all pretty close and if you Google "0078fk flashing guide" this thread is the 1st hit. I do know I was the 1st person even on Xbox scene to make a point of saying you needed to hit eject 3 times to keep the tray closed when you put the game disc in there. Regardless it's cool they have every drive in on guide.

sorry i don't mean to undermine your hard work, but i just think that maybe for some people the other guide could be better cause its a bit more thorough a lot of people new to this kinda stuff could make some mistakes nonetheless that 3 button trick sure worked for me so thanks for that . damn drive wouldn't stay in lol also the power light kept flashing too while it was in modeb
I thought that was only for the resistor trick?
Also when your in Slax its actually comes up saying ModeB in the booting sequence before the login its blue i think:S
If you keep your eyes peeled

It's cool. And I can't tell to definite colors most of the times since I'm color blind. Still I usually get them right more than half the time.

Quote: 3 hits of the eject button while the drive is open should keep it closed
