It would be nice if RI4M would auto notify users of FixVTS updates as well as the RI4M itself. It's best to let the auto check for updates work so it will keep you notified. The way things go, the app you have in storage may be dated by the time you need it.

The 185 is a good processor. A lot of people are OCing it to 3.0GHz and running stable. I like them as much as the more expensive FX 60.

Did you use the 3060 Beta? DVDIdle specifically updated the program for Saw 3 and people have said it works.

Every newbie and his brother and sister will be saying "I can't do Saw 3", or "how do I copy Saw 4". How about a thread on Larry the Cable Guy. LOL

I'm one of those guys that gets the movies a week ahead of time. I will admit that the "Unrated" version that I got was a #*!@6! I used AnyDVD (has not been updated yet!), AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter, and DVDFab 3.0.5.5. None of these bad boys worked!

I normally do not use RI4M unless I am in dire straights! Make sure that you have the latest update, and most importantly, make sure you get the latest update for FixVTS.

I got it to work after two hours of trial and error! I heard that "alkohol" was able to do it with DVDFab, but his version may have been different. Hopefully AnyDVD and DVDFab will have updates by the time the movie comes out next week. That will make life easier on everyone!

I don't know how everyone else feels but I think Ripit4me is great because it can usually rip any movie without so many updates. AnyDVD is always having to be updated to handle new encryptions.

paschal93-

I will not post my RI4M log file. This movie has too many unreferenced and black cells. My version of RI4M is 1.6.4.0 and a very important update that you need is the latest update of FixVTS 1.603. Now that is if you are doing the "Unrated" version of the movie.

The next thing that I need to tell you is that I remove all previews, and turn certain menu's to stills. I use DVD ReMake Pro, and I was able to get the entire movie, Menu's, Deleted Scened, and a few extras on the DVD. I am able to change certain menu's to still images and remove certain options from the menu's. Basically, if you watch my film you can not tell that I did anything at all, but a lot of that stuff is gone.

You can use VobBlanker to get rid of a lot of the information, but you still won't be able to get to my compression ratio of 76%. What I am going to list is using DVD Shrink for the %'s. Now remember that I use high quality TY's for my backups and my max output to 4500 MB so that I do not burn to the edge of the disk.

DVD Shrink Settings.
Full Movie, with menu's and previews: 57.2% (Very Poor Quality)
Movie only: 83.8%
Full Movie, with menu's No Previews: 63.8% (Not bad, but still not great!)

I hope that this helps with what you wanted to know. Good luck!

Edit: I agree that RI4M is a great program, however, it is time consuming. By the way, I used the 1-click mode and not the wizard mode.

Time consuming? Messing around with software that doesn't work is even more time consuming. It's not that much more time consuming than what I do anyway. One way or the other I rip with DVD Decrypter, either with AnyDVD or RI4M. RI4M only adds a few seconds for PSL files and IFO cleanup. I have FixVTS and use it with or without RI4M. The opening in Shrink is just a quick compliance test. Sometimes when I use another method, I wish I had opened for the compliance test when I waste time trying to open the files in a program and find it's not working. RI4M might take a minute or 2 longer, but sometimes it saves a lot of time. I'm sort of sold on it. Not a hard sell since it's free and it works. LOL

What I meant by time consuming is that if for example, I didn't have the latest update to RI4M. The first time I tried to rip with RI4M it said that it was finished. It was finished, but what it failed to tell me was that there were problem cells. I did not realize this at first, and as I tried to progress in the process, it would not work.

I was a little confused at first, but I decided to make sure that my FixVTS was up to date. When I installed the latest version it worked. Needless to say, first I tried AnyDVD, then I tried AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter, Then I tried DVDFab Decrypter, then I went to RI4M. It was the second time with RI4M before I was able to get it complete. That is pretty much what I meant by time consuming. You see, when I am finished decrypting a movie, I have another program I run it through before I use Shrink or Recode2.

Most people probably do not have this problem, because they are not looking for quality out of a DVD Backup. Personally, I like quality, and changing the menu to not show the items that I remove from the DVD. Basically, when you watch one of my burns, you can not tell in any way that the film has been altered from the original. All of the steps that I had to take to get to that point is time consuming. RI4M does more steps than I normally do. I normally just decrypt which takes about 10 or 15 minutes. RI4M takes a good half hour to finish all of its steps. It is a great program but one that I don't use very often.

Edit: to fix error!

Well, I'm one of those who look for quality out of a backup. If you can't have good viewing quality, then why do the backup? What are you saving that original for if you can't enjoy some video quality? I realize some people may not care for quality on some that the kids tear up, but I don't have the little guys doing that to me.

I always try to keep my backup software updated. That can save a lot of time and grief.

I try to keep mine backed up also, however, I forgot about that little FixVTS! It's a good program, I just don't use it very often.

What do you guys think is happening over at Slysoft? The CloneDVD2 last update 2.9.0.3 is equiped to handle SAW III as I used it instead of FixVTS, with RipIt4Me And as PacMan777 mentioned to me the encryption found on both "SAW III" & "OPEN SEASON" is not as difficult as it appears which I tend agree is true. Well, why then do you guys think Slysoft is dragging their butts on getting an actual fix for the current Arccos PuppetLock encryption cocktail? I said they may be going through a change in staff but my bigger concern is maybe their encountering legal trouble or even being sought to be purchased, as I noticed that they are falling unneedingly short on resolving simple changes in encryption.

I say simple as I have saved as many as 30 AnyDVD software updates and noticed that I have been able to go back in most cases to previous updates to resolve encryption conflicts found on newly released DVD's or titles. Also freeware programs like RipIt4Me are being far more proactive in resolving the lastest encryption issues and they aren't seeing a dime for doing so? It is strange that Slysoft would wait to until say, today? to come out with an update for a title that their customers have contacted them about over a week ago? Also the recent rash of beta releases which to me equate to alot unsure step taking towards handling current encryption conflicts. Hey, everything they've been doing just seems a little strange.:P

@N2DVD

I have no idea what's going on over there at SlySoft (no hard feeling to AnyDVD users). I'm happy with what I have; DVDFab Decrypter and RipIt4Me, yep they're both FREE and awesome. These are the only 2 rippers I used and so far both of them are working flawlessly -- well, at least for me.

DVDFab Decrypter 3060Beta for those are interested.
FixVTS 1.6.0.3 for those haven't updated yet.

Best of luck to all, happy ripping and burning!!

Last I heard Antigua wasn't party to to international copyright accords. So the Sly bunch wouldn't be in trouble unless there's a political change of heart. Money works mysteriously behind the scenes and the entertainment industry definitely has the money, and we give them more every day.

Slysoft is still getting out the updates, they just don't seem to be as effective. As for Saw 3 and other early releases, I think the major initiative is getting the software updated in time for the majority of customers to use it in time for the regular release. The early releases and people sending in files works to help everyone, but it takes time to update the programs. Before Slysoft was the first to get updated. Is everyone else trying harder or is Slysoft slipping. For me the jury is still out and I'm still using AnyDVD much as before. It's just some of the heavier copy protection with Full Disc that I move to RI4M for. I have friends who swear by RI4M and won't use anything else. That 1-Click mode makes the couch potatoes happy campers. LOL

I'm still a big AnyDVD fan though I do use other programs too just to try them out on the 'heavier' stuff. And I do like RipIt4Me esp.

But this from there change log has some concern:
Thanks to the anonymous developer who provided that code, without this, RipIt4Me would *not* be able to handle some of the latest DVDs.
Hopefully that anonymous developer will stick around.
