Quote: The motherboard is 100% fine!!It is the software inside that is corrupted and need to be reinstalled
Yeah we know that, what happened when the charger was pulled out of the PSP is that the system lost power and the system files that were being written did not get to finish writing to the flash memory. So basically you have 1/2 a PSP operating system installed. Nothing wrong with the motherboard itself it just needs the firmware to be reflashed.

Well unless he has a special piece of hardware that only Sony's supposed to have that lets you do this (which is unlikely) he just swaps out the motherboards. Once it's bricked thats it, theres no way to access the flash so is over. They only way is to get a new motherboard.

Like I said there is no point in a modchip for him. Take a look at modchip.com's only PSP modchip. It is the infamous Undiluted Platinum chip. Now besides the fact that they only sell the chip as a package (chip and installation) for U.S.D $ 229.95 the chip is also incompatible with Quote: This chip is not yet compatible with PSP Motherboard Version TA-082
And even with a modchip not all PSP's can be saved.

I apologize for the incorrect pricing, when I went to modchipstore.com that was the only Undiluted Platinum listing I saw. And also here is a quote I pulled from a forum, with the quote being from one of the dev's who helped with with the custom firmware...
Quote: That's funny, did you know EVEN the great Dark_AleX bricked his PSP despite having a UP modchip
And heres a explanation of how that happened...
Quote: If the IDstorage locations on your Psp become corrupted and you do not have a fully working Nand dump before this happened then you cannot completely recover. You will either get a total brick or a bootable Psp that cannot run any UMD's, homebrew or Wifi (ie useless). Only recently there has been software that allows you to recover if you had a previous Nand dump.

Hey guys...I'm not sure about this mod chip things...!!!
As I said, the shop inform me that they could unbrick my psp including upgrading it to the latest custom fW....And from what they told me...there is no need to replaced the motherboard at all...!!!I will still be using the existing motherboard...!!
But what puzzled me is how in the hell did they unbrick a brick psp???
And I check with a few other shops and find out that they too provide the same kind of services!!!Where in the hell did they learn or knew this from...???

Maybe they hav a special kind of hardware or software.I don't think the motherboard was replaced since they only charge me $100 > USD66.00 > EUR49.00. A motherboard cost much more than that right??

Yes in general PSP motherboards that are version 1.5 sell from anywere from $65-$95 dollars depending on the seller and the demand. But lets say they struck a motherboard buying deal from a distributor and bought lets says 100 motherboards I'm sure they would/could get a deal. There are so many ways they could fix your "bricked" psp I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what they are doing.

Let see if my fw is still 2.71 after the repair...If it is 2.71 that means there is a way to unbrick it without any motherboard replacement...unless they replace the motherboard with the same FW then there is no way to tell!! Juz sit back and wait... will update you guys once my psp is back and kicking...But need to wait a bit longer.....only be sending for repair after my pay day...!!!
