Hmmm, interesting points, the basic being that we need to know what the problems are before we can help. Personally I prefer to post with at least a modicum of grammar. I very rarely criticise anybodies grammar or spelling (except my own & possibly DRchips). This is not a slur on Dr chips. In fact it is a sign of affection & respect. It is not very often you can talk to somebody about the string theory/quantum mechanics. I do enjoy taking the mickey out of situations as my numerous posts prove. Going over the top is good fun!!
Having said all of that I find it more difficult to read some of the posts, this is due to slang etc. I also can speak a reasonable amount of French & German. That is not bad for somebody who is British!
I commend any body communicating in a foreign tongue, it can be very difficult. I know!
Above all we have to have fun on the way & a bit of ribbing does not do anybody any harm. Anyway here's to our marvellous banter which I find extremely enjoyable. If I have offended anybody then I apologize unreservedly.
All the best everybody!

I'm sorry that this thread seems to have "Petered" out (tis that a ScubaPete dig??). And yet, I continue on - as all can attest, my spelling and punctuation is perhaps ?worserer? than anyone's in the forum - (an award ? - Yea, or NOT ! - it?s what I thought - NOT :-()

I?ve heard nothing about the apparent acceptance being shown to certain members by the Administration and Moderators. I speak of members who seem to post nothing but intimidating, maligning and destructive comments directed at any and everybody they can - It?s especially harmful to the new comers who assume that, because it appears to be tolerated, this is what the A/D forum is about. I?m not referring to those who don?t know better or those dealing with a second tongue, I refer to those whose goal is to disrupt threads and endeavor to wreak havoc wherever they go. Building and maintaining a reputation shouldn?t be based on exposure to ?beasty976?, ?Devil60? and others like them. They serve no useful purpose and not only can we get along without them; we?d be better off without them.

In the American Justice system we have a ?One, Two, Three strikes and you?re OUT? laws. Translation; One, gets you a warning, the second offense, another warning (I?m assuming that they can count and by now they?ll also understands what constitutes a violation) - The third infraction gets them a 30-day suspension and the final violation, as the ?Doc? would say Byeeeeeee !

Well they?re my thoughts, poor punctuation, misspellings and all :P)

I thought the american justice was its only ilegal if you get caught. And if you do then you pay the big bucks and pull an OJ. Thats so the rich can do what ever they want.

But after that little tantrum, I am really surprise this thread has been dorment. I have noticed posts that I have made that are not what I have intended. Now how may haves are in that sentence.

But to quote the great drchips:

I'm a bit late to this thread, but just had to post after reading drChips post to beasty.

I couldn't stop laughing, that's some funny sh@#t!
Then when I saw him reply, it sent me cracking up all over again.

I knew you had some knowledge from what I'd heard, but I had no idea!
Thanks for making me laugh, I needed it.

And condolences to Beasty, sometimes you just can't see what's lurking around the corner. Glad to see you made up and everythings ok.

The sad thing about this is Beasty doesn't respect the ?Doc? he's just afraid of him -

Given the off chance that he feels the "Doc" isn't around, he'll threaten, disrupt and antagonize whomever he can, tis a piety, that -

Hey Pete, Everyone, Dr Chips. I don't know how I missed this thread and all the FUN. Went back to the start and read it all the way through. Doc you are DA MAN. Your little lesson in tracking had me laughing all the way through this. Great job once again. I loved it.
Later guys.

My wife's best friend teaches English to 9th graders here, their new tribal language is that if IRC and IM language, I don't think they even use polyslyllabic words in speaking anymore.,,, even on school assignments. I'm afraid our language is rapidly morphing into acronyms, slang and binary symbols. I wonder if the next generation will consider present day comic books too wordy and flamboyant as this present day crowd views Shakespear and Faulkner???? CUL8TR will become the catchword for the next decade. TTFN.

My oldest grandson just turned 13, a tough age, but so far he has not exhibited any language/writing/spelling problems and if he did we would all land on him like a ton of bricks. We try to impress on him that there is a future and if he does not have the right skills, what he dreams of doing will not happen. A problem I see with the teens I have worked with is that they are not future oriented, they cannot believe that things will change, i.e. they will grow-up and get older.

Forgot to mention earlier, nothing livens up a day like reading an application/resume which is filled with misspelling and bad grammer and just sounds bad.
for example,
Previous job--- Ass Inspector, (Learn how to abbreviate assisstant)Same person, next job Ass Designer.
Berger Boy,(Job title)
Reason for leaving- was fired due to problems with manager, you know how they can be.
But enough, I'm sure anyone who hires people can attest to the incoming waves of trolls out in the job force who assume that I'll pay them $45.00 per hour so they have more time to finish that G.E.D. diploma and move out to Hollywood....

Thats a great post. The sad thing is it is completely true. I'm glad my daughter has completed college, married and has a good job. My worries are how to handle any grand kids that may come along later.

A Trolls special

Some more instructions for Stupid People

Instructions for Stupid People

In Honor of Stupid People (an expansion as well as a revisit)

In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through
stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.

On a Sears hairdryer -- Do not use while sleeping.
(Damn, and that's the only time I have to work on my hair).

On a bag of Fritos -- You could be a winner! No purchase necessary.
Details inside.
(The shoplifter special)?

On a bar of Dial soap -- "Directions: Use like regular soap."
(And that would be how???.....)

On some Swanson frozen dinners -- "Serving suggestion: Defrost."
(But, it's "just" a suggestion).

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom) -- "Do not turn upside
down."
(Well...duh, a bit late, huh)!

On Marks &Spencer Bread Pudding -- "Product will be hot after heating."
(...and you thought????....)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron -- "Do not iron clothes on body."
(But wouldn't this save me more time)?

On Boot's Children Cough Medicine -- "Do not drive a car or operate
machinery after taking this medication."
(We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we
could just get those 5-year-olds with head-colds off those forklifts.)

On Nytol Sleep Aid -- "Warning: May cause drowsiness..."
(And...I'm taking this because???....)

On most brands of Christmas lights -- "For indoor or outdoor use only."
(As opposed to...what)?

On a Japanese food processor -- "Not to be used for the other use."
(Now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)

On Sainsbury's peanuts -- "Warning: contains nuts."
(Talk about a news flash)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts -- "Instructions: Open packet,
eat nuts."
(Step 3: maybe, uh...fly Delta?)

On a child's Superman costume -- "Wearing of this garment does not
enable you to fly."
(I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one.)

On a Swedish chainsaw -- "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands
or genitals."
(Ouch! My God...was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)

Even though I'm a newer member. I've started to be more selective in replying to poorly phrased threads or threads that are slang. Seems that if you do try to help some of these, "I don't know what to call them." They respond with, "I'm not an idiot, or I already know that." Sorry but I'm not a mind reader. A good teacher starts from A and explains everything to Z. How is the person to know that maybe they did screw up at the very first. ddp is very knowledgeable and I looked a a couple of threads where he tried to help, and was snapped back at very disrectfully. Maybe a disclaimer list of check offs before some one can post, as in: 1. If you ask a question expect an answer. 2. If you have already tried what has been answered, understand that at least you are going down the same path. 3. Use proper grammer and no slang. Cultural diversity will be taken into account, but the question has to be understood by a vast array of people willing to help. 4. If you are disrespectful in any way. Do not expect any further help.
Just have them check off that they read each rule and if they break them, close the thread.

I would say to apply this to newbies, but I've gotten the same responses form members and even senior members. I don't look at the member status, I try to identify the problem and cover all of the bases. But just because the person has made 500 posts, it only means to me they spend a lot of time on the forums. Not that they are a rocket scientist. "Any rocket scientist reading this, I'm not refering to you."

I'll get off of my soap box now. By the way, I usually use wordperfect to edit my responses before I post. I type too fast and have large fingers. But I want my explaination to be clear and concise. CD. "Stepping down now."
