The brand of discs you use do make a big difference to the PS2 laser.

Also yes DVD Decrypter and imgburn both copy PS2 games to an ISO perfectly in their order.

That is why nothing else needs to be done. Just copy game to ISO, then use to burn ISO.

But when you extract files from a DVD9 game to a folder, then rebuild that is why the .iml and .lst file is necessary.

i got some philips silver top ,v light purple dye , dvd -r , 8x , burned games at 2.4x . imgburn shows its cmc mag am3 . god of war worked perfect on the philips dvd-r , but subsequent other burnt games load the trailer but just stays on loading doesnt even get to game menu but others just stay on loading after selecting new game , - all games are esr patched;

i also got bulkpaq yelow top , light purple dye , 8x,dvd-r, img burn shows its a cmc amg ae1 . i dare not use thsese after seeing the reviews. lol.

the ones that i used that did work , were unbranded blue top , dark purple dye , imgburn showed up as ritek g04's .

so are riteks better then cmc 's? as cmc is philips so iwould have thought its better but it seems non branded ritek go4's are betteR ??!?!?!??!

The Ritek g04 are probably your best bet then.
It is the media id which is important.

I would burn at 4x speed also, not any lower.

Yeah the "best media thread" is taken from that very same site.

I just thought I would link directly to it instead.

esr bugs?!?!?!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

not sure if this is a bug or incompatibility issue but i thought i let you guys aware so you can double check or test

tools
free mb coot v1.8 noobies package - esr was inclu
ps2 uk - sph 500003
maximo game ps2 pal uk dvd
blank philips 8x dvd-r . id cmc mag ae3 i think

basically burnt maximo esr patched @ 4x,
it loads first bit flashing rainbow colours
then asks which select language
then just shows a loading with cd icon spining
ps2 can hear dvd whirring but doesnt actualkly spin up

so re ripped on a totally different PC , esr patched , and i burnt a second copy @ 2.4x and exact same happened as above

so i then thought i test it in cogswap / swapmagic as a final resort ,
cog swappedd
then it asks which select language
then shows capcom logo
them something shark (presume this is game makers logo)
i can now hear dvd actualkly spin up rather then whiirring now
then just shows a loading with cd icon spining
now it gets to game main menu .
- played for a good 5 mins to make surte its ok

i tested both dvds work flawlessly , any f urther testing needed for feed back . let me know .

I haven't checked through the ESR compatibility list or the ESR bug thread about maximo.

You may have to try the ESR beta r9b dvdv direct off.elf or the ESR_GUI_test2.elf and see if same results.

Did you add the ELF files in the proper location as below

Then make sure to set the proper path

Or was it the "Configure E1 launch keys" that you assigned the ELF's in.
That is just for button press when launching, the loader will look in each location for the ELF file.

Its all in the tutorial on fmcb 1.8, but can be tricky to do.

your welcome..There are a quite a few ways that one can launch elf files using fmcb 1.8

There is the E1 Launch keys, the OSD launch, and using uLaunch.elf

I know I had to refer to the fmcb configurator tutorial a few times when I was first setting up.
Then test it out.

No problem, do you have an xlink cable?
http://psx-scene.com/forums/435478-post4.html

The first method posted is if you have an xlink cable, plus you can read through the posts made by "cb65user" as he just did this.

And the second link is if you don't have the xlink cable.

Let us know how you make out

hi , i got an email about this as i am subscribed to this forum. so helo again rain.lol.

yes its much easier if you have the xlink cable . so first of all tell us your ps2 version , usb stick brand (as some ps2s are picky with usb sticks) i used/tested kingston , and san disk sd cards with usb2 card reader.

and what ps1 game are you using for the exploit as not all work.

also how are you making the exploit, manually with ps2 game save builder (tedious method for newbies) or the 5.1 exploit pack (easier for newbies).

if you do not have xlihnk cable , you will have to put the generated p2m (save game build file ) from usb onto root sony memory card . you should see the file name change to its internal file name (internal file name as in "new_file") - this is when you know the exploit will work .

when you make your p2m save build file you will save it as "whatever.p2m" . but inside this ps2 save game file will be the actual proper file name ps2 recognises for the game. this is why you should see it change as you copy it over to the sony memory card.

wicked , i had a feeling it wont work without xlink usb cable . i think its not possible with usb to mc as the filename doesnt change over when you copy over across,. but i havent had time to investigate this . unless other people can confirm it works over usb to mc rather then xlink to mc .

According to "darockman" it works without a xlink cable, just have to do it a bit different.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to bother you but I have a problem.
I'd say I'm fine with your tutorial up until the point where you actually copy over your file to the memory card using the xploder software (I do not have x-link, just the cd) I Have opened my generated .xps file in save builder 0.8, and saved them as BEDATA-SYSTEM as all of the formats aswell as renaming them to .ps2. When I copy them over the name doesnt change, and I still have an x-ploder icon in the ps2 browser.
Do I just need to copy the .ps2 file, or have it in a folder named BEDATA-SYSTEM aswell when I copy it over.

Thanks in advance,
keemy

Ok so save your .xps file as BEDATA-SYSTEM.md
Then rename the BEDATA-SYSTEM.md to BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2

Or it will be BADATA-SYSTEM.md to BADATA-SYSTEM.ps2 if your region is NTSC

Then just copy the BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 to mc

You may need to delete your "Your System Configuration" maybe for it too work.

hmm , i gave up that method as i could not get it to work without the xlink cable .

try formatting card , make sure system-config folder in MC is deleted prior putting the bedata-system file . try leaving it in a folder with the bedata-system file inside .and copying whole contents over to the mc .
