The fact that the ISO is 125MB tells you right there that there is no movie.

You can still burn manually with Nero the files that DVD Shrink outputs.
The problem doesn't seem to be related to Nero at all, since the ISO of a ~ 90 min movie, created by DVD Shrink, was only 125MB.
Quote: Now, when I burn them, they do not play on standalone dvd players, but will play fine right on my PC.??? I have tried multiple players, that have all worked in the past, and now, it's almost as if they think that the dvd is blank.
It kinda puzzles me how those discs played on the PC, if they were all messed up, and only 130 MB or so.
Also, even burning @20X, when it only takes 2 minutes or so to burn an entire movie, from lead in to lead out, that should raise an eyebrow!

The screenshot shows 67 files.
There is now way in hell that DVD Shrink is going to output an uncompliant DVD with 67 files. This thread now consists of 3 pages of nothing.

I don't think it is a total waste of time, if someone actually reads the thing and learns something. Bottom line, nowadays you cannot backup/burn a DVD without properly decrypting it first. Or if you do, then you get a disc full of nothing.

True, that is general wisdom, however, burning too fast or outdated firmware is not the culprit in this case.

I think it may have just had something to do with the copyright on that particular dvd. OR, DVDshrink wasn't doing something right. Because I ran the job with DVDfab, and the first time I did it, it worked like a charm. I was seriously fighting with that thing for a week or two.

With some of the newer DVDs, you need to use the built-in AnyDVD ripper before using Shrink... Check the status after AnyDVD processes the disc.. if it shows "Structural Protection", you need to rip it to your HDD before using Shrink.. Then point Shrink to "open files" instead of "open Disc"...

Same here... Have DVDFab but hardly ever use... only for the rare ones that AnyDVD can't handle.. But then, always have to run thru FixVts or VobBlanker.. Don't need those with AnyDVD rips.
AnyDVD even cleans up and repairs the files from the TV DVD recorder.. Don't know if its just my machine, or the "nature of the beast"... they play fine, but if you try to rip (so I can convert to .avi), they come up with invalid DVD structure errors and a bunch of other junk.. Everyone had been made into DVD compliant structure using the AnyDVD ripper.. Then Shrink to just pull off the main movie (the DVD recorder creates several other title files) and then AutoGK and a perfect 350MB .avi from a 4.5GB DVD.
DVDFab on the other hand, "chokes up" on my home-burned DVD's from the recorder... usually needs Pathplayer enabled and then always needs to be cleaned up before anything else..
So, just my 2cents.

I have never used AnyDVD outside of the initial 21 day trial quite some years ago so can't comment on it, but DVDFab does indeed need cleaning up doing after ripping, i personally use vobblanker for cleaning.
As to dvd recorder ripping, DVD Shrink is all that's needed there, i do this myself from DVD-RW discs used on my Panasonic recorder

I also own both programs and have personally found that Anydvd does indeed give cleaner rips than DvdFab. I also use VobBlanker in conjunction with DvdFab...everytime.

This is why I never rip and auto burn. I need to know that my files are clean and work the way I want them to before I burn.

Agreed. I quite autoburning just so i could preview everything before i burn it. It's always best to double check it. I'm not one to waste my blanks.
