First time here. Some movies copu without problem. Others start to read then give an error message "can not read sector 10(or some other number) I close that window and get the message "can not read dvd" when that window is closed the program shuts down. Also some movies cause dvdxcopy to go unresponsive. I have to go to the task manager to close the porgram. Can anyone give suggestions on what may be happining. As I said some movies copy with no problems what so ever. Others give the error messages or lock dvdxcopy all together. Please help if you can. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Watts.

Sounds like you are running into some of the new copy protection. Do you have anydvd or dvd43 running in the background?

dvd x copy is no longer updated & some of the latest discs have copy protection tht x copy alone can not get past. you have several options the easiest would be to download AnyDVD from slysoft.com this is a program that you run in the background whilst using x copy. this is not a free program but you can get a 21 day trial. this program will allow you to back up any movie & is well worth the money should you choose to buy it after your trial.

other than that there are some free programs that will also allow you to make back ups they are - DVD Decrypter, dvd fab decrypter, DVD Shrink, & VOB blanker. with these programs you can also get past the latest copy protections but are a bit more complicated than AnyDVD alone. there are tutorials here on afterdawn on how to use the above programs which will help you.
